Yah, I just did again today after a meager 2"-3" of snow...Pirelli All Seasons on my 2013 28i...

They SUCK in snow

I've driven X6 with Snows, X5d with snows, 325xi with snows, 550 RWD with snows and there is no comparison when there is snow and ice on the ground...Scariest thing? Trying to turn

The All Seasons are palatable in colder weather, on clean, plowed roads - that's it imo...I'm leasing this vehicle for two more seasons and I can handle the All Seasons for that long..

But my next vehicle will absolutely have a dedicated summer vs winter fitment...All Season tires excel at nothing...

I've been surprised at how poorly the car handles in the snow with the stock all seasons. Actually worse than previous FWD cars with all seasons. I'm guessing that this is all tire related but still expected that an AWD would be better than FWD.

I would think AWD without proper tires meaning nothing.

Again, I find myself singing the praises of winter tires -- had a good 6-8 inches on the poorly plowed streets in my neighborhood this morning. As others have said, I'm sure in less wintery weather, the all-seasons may be ok. But not today (for me).

Where i live. Winters are mandatory from December through March. Some days, all season tires are just plain dangerous.

X3 is pretty good in the snow. Slightly better than the previous subaru.

Absolutely, it's down to local conditions. 13C here yesterday, only 10C today.

10C here too. Probably no more snow until December at the earliest now so it really comes down to is it worth the cost if you only get 3 days of snow max a year? Probably not for me but I like the fact I have winters now (even though it makes me want snow like a school kid!)

+1 - So impressed with the performance even in low temp, wet conditions Im thinking of getting some for our other car too.
But yes do find myself hoping that with all this global warming it will snow more down here too!!!

woohoo, we are finally getting some decent snow!

Regular driving in irregular weather conditions is very confidence inspiring in the X3 with winter tires

I'm still not a fan of the Pirreli tires however and winter abilities would only be improved with better rubber.

My wife is a photographer and yesterday she was missioned to take pictures of the snow storm in Boston. Therefore we had clearance to drive throughout the travel ban. We drove pretty much all night.
The X3 has been incredible, I have snow tires and at no time had any difficulty to travel through the storm. It was unbelievable and a rather unique experience. At some point a cop wanted to trade my car, he barely could drive his.
Going back outside soon!

I think you folks in Boston got a lot more snow than us... I headed over to one the big-box stores this morning and had some fun in their parking lot. I was leaving snail tracks in the snow from the underside of my car.

I only had a bit of grief driving through the 2' windrows from the plows.

Not surprised....So we're all netting-out that if you want to have the absolute safest winter driving experience of the X3 in snow (or 1, 5 or 6 for that matter)
put on some damn good snow tires!

All seasons be damned

I also have a MA driving exemption for the current storm. I've had no issues driving in the snow with my winter tires. I haven't been convinced that my Pirelli Sottozeros were going to do the job, but I have no complaints.

trailer pull in the snow

I am in Connecticut where we just got over 2 feet of snow. The plows never came down my street so roads were a mess to say the least. I pulled my 4x8 utility trailer across town in this so I could dig out some elderly relatives with my snow blower. The X3 performed flawlessly in this massive mess even pulling a trailer. I could really feel all 4 tires digging in and keeping me straight. I have the stock tires and never lost footing or slid. As long as you use common sense and do not tailgate or drive too fast you will be fine. I am very happy with my X3 in the snow.

Pretty impressive for stock (I assume AS) tires. What tires do you have?

+1. That's close to my experience with all seasons in the snow, but admittedly I haven't driven in 2 feet of snow. Forward motion is rock steady. If you slow down properly, turns are no problem.

i agree even thought it didnt snow as much as it did in CT, i live in BK it must of been 8" i backed out of the driveway like a boss lol. i did engage the dynamic traction control, next time i will try without it. But im very happy how it performs in all weathers, rain, snow and dry surfaces.

I currently drive a Highlander AWD with Toyo Open Country A20 all season tires and it's been good at getting traction and going though anything, though the tread is now worn down some so stopping on snow/ice has diminished. I am looking at possibly buying an X3 and am wondering does the X3 perform well with the stock all season run flats during winter conditions (snow/ice/cold rain). The salesman said his 3 series with xdrive performs very well around here so I'm hoping it's the same for the x3.
