UK extended warranty costs

Hi,
I'm rapidly approaching 2 years of ownership- and finance end.
Can anyone give me advice on cost and value of extended warranty on my X3? 3.0d SE.
Is it better to extend in now? BMW warranty or 3rd party?
If I take out a warranty and then trade in will I get money back?

Thanks Phil

Firstly - factory warranty is three years...

The rest (bearing in mind mine is an E83):
I've gone with BMW as it includes a decent Euro recovery cover as well as the other warranty benefits.
You'll get a letter when the warranty expires with all the details to get an on-line quote.
No you don't get money back if you sell before the end, unless I suppose you're paying monthly and just stop paying?

Thanks- I realise the warranty is 3 years, but thought I might get it a bit cheaper before I get to the end of it next year.
My dealer sent me an email last week, asking if we can have a 'chat' about refinance or trade in.
The re-finance would have to be very good with some additional benefits to beat the current very low loan APR's around ~4.1% APR

I think you can only actually buy the warranty within the last 30 days before expiry - I may be wrong there....

I'd love to take advantage of the loan rates, it's sorely tempting, but our disposable income has gone on my wife's Cooper S - I'll just have to wait a bit longer

Thanks cooldude00.
I presume the prices you quote are for immediately out of warrenty? i.e. Over 3 years old.
The under 60,000 miles is that linked to age of the car. Would it be the same prices if the car was 4+ years old?

Just paid my balloon payment on the BMW PCP. My bank account got a lot lighter in an instant, but at least I don't have any more finance.
Question is how much longer should I keep it- another 1, 2 or more years ???

believe the prices are for < 100,000 miles at time of starting the warranty, not linked to age of car.. best to call and ask

for reference, my manufacturer warranty runs out in 2 weeks. hence I called and asked for a quote, currently mileage is 25k

Which package are you going for?
Do you know if you have to pay extra for the connected drive to continue to work, or is that part of the extended warranty? I use the Google Send To Car feature every week.
Is the emergency service Europe wide as per the standard 3 year warranty?
Is it any cheaper to get a separate emergency service? i.e. AA?

Interesting so if under 60000 miles with basic warranty minus the other stuff it's free to extend?

in all likelihood am going to pass given it's been relatively trouble free for the past 3 years and not keen to pay 600 a year.. might as well take the risk and save it for a rainy day fund...

not sure about connected drive as i don't have it - don't think it's included

emergency service is europe wide - on its own it's 148 quid - again, will pass as i get european RAC cover as part of my Barclays premier tech pack (alongside family travel insurance and airport lounge access) which is 11.50 per mth.

hope this helps

not sure i follow but extended warranty isn't free to extend, you get a choice to pay annually or monthly, differing amounts depend on the level of excess you wish to pay

apologies if i misunderstood
