It seems to happen to a lot of members' vehicles. You can adjust this yourself or have the dealer adjust it. It's very easy. Just loosen the latch/striker/c-hook that is attached to the body of the car. Loosen it with a T40 torx driver. I had to adjust this on my new X5.

I really find this unacceptable right out of the factory.

Exactly. Are there any issues with the hood not flush with the body on the X3? I had this issue on my E90 and E92.

Mine is the same too, but on the passenger side as well, and from the moment I took delivery I am thinking that noise coming from driver's door inside the car is more than normal . Maybe a door seal issue, either way I will have it checked at the dealer soon.
