I'm having the same problem but with all the monitors on the car. its an X3 2011 F25

I have a buddy at the dealership he's a mechanic. He works on the price of the parts with me. but it's still way too much money. He asked me about the battery if it was good. Turns out that the if the battery is no good the car does this. I turn on the air conditioning and it turns off, the seatbelt monitor says of malfunctioning, the tire preasure monitor is not working. He hooked it up to the machine and told me the tire preasure monitor module is gone and the battery has to be changd out. If I buy a new one he has to keep the car for 2 days so that he can program the car to this new module. I have a question? Is this thing with the 6 771 number on it the part that I need?

it might be
the only way to know for sure is to remove the one you have and find the exact part number you need
keep in mind BMW has about 50 of these
and I am pretty sure if you don't get a matching one, you will need to take it to dealer to reprogram

I am getting this message once in a while and i just hit OK, but it keeps coming back. Dealer said front wheel sensors are bad and that is why this message is showing up, so now i dont know if i need new RDC or sensors. The tires were replaced and right after this message started to show up, i am going back to the tire shop and they will check if sensors are bad or damaged.

the tire shop said the sensors are good, they can get the reading from both sensors using a tool or something, now i don't know if the battery sensor are dyeing and the RDC module cant get a readout once in a whole hence the reason the TPMS malfunction or the RDC is bad..not sure what to do now..

Thumbs up Replaced RDC with a used one

Thank you kmarei.

I finally replaced failed RDC controller with a used one I bought from ebay.
I had to inject CAFD into the replaced module(Did this using E-Sys & ENET cable) for it to work. I no longer have the annoying "TPMS Malfunction" and TPMS status is correctly showing in the CIC screen.

Thanks

great news
I didn't have to do any coding on mine, strange

since you know coding, do you have any idea if we can code having the exact tire pressure displayed on the idrive screen?
I know some people have done it, but no idea how
and you live close, so I could pass by
I live in reston, VA
see example below

hey, thanks a lot for your post.

, tomorrow i will check the module there, but while looking at ebay i saw 2 different modules for the same model of car

1. one as you pictured and
2. the other a square one, white.

do we have 2 of these or is for a different car?

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odk...+2011&_sacat=0

Thanks in advanced.

why are we guessing
take our your existing one and you will know which one you have
AND the exact part number, and that's what you look for
as far as I know the white one was not used on the X3
I usually found those for the 5 series
never trust what they say on ebay
they may list it for X3, but it might not fit

Hi guys

I've got the same situation as you - greedy dealers and lack of information on additional options

Have coded our X3 F25 last year to see TPMS in Vehicle Status. All tyres are green but no preasure or temperature display. Apparently our car doesn't have wheels sensors fitted.

Just wondering if installing 4 sensors will enable TPMS monitoring or I have to check if our car has RDC module fitted? Local dealer said the car is not upgradable (which is very unlikely).

I removed 2VB from the FA.
I then VO Coded ICM, KOMBI, HU_CIC, and DSC.

All works with no errors. I have Flat Tire Monitor Active. I did not disconnect the RDC Module (you can't just pull the fuse for TPMS in the X3 as this gave me DMTL errors which were on the same fuse).

As everything was working fine with no errors I just left the RDC module connected. Hopefully this will not lead to having problems later......
Interested in this. I live in Canada, and I currently own 4 BMW's. 3 have the wheel sensor based TPM system, whereas my X3 has the US TPMS system (It's a US model), which is a bit finicky compared to the other (which BTW work flawlessly). I was contemplating retrofitting the US spec TPMS system of the X to the wheel sensor based TPM. I read somewhere on one of the forums that there might be a different wire harness & slightly different location, and also a different RDC module, so I was thinking of maybe doing this sometime n the summer months, when working on the car is possible.
Now, if I don't need to change anything that would be great. My X is a 2011 with the N52 engine. What software did you use to reprogram the TPM? And could you please post a detailed sequence of what was coded? (from what value to what value)

Thanks!!!!

This is great, thank you for posting picture. I have the same issue and dealer is asking for $845! I will try removing it and see if I can replace it myself. Thanks!

I had TPM Malfunction message show up once in on my X3 (2012 35i) and the dealer told me i need 2 front sensors as they are bad. I drove the car for about 2 years without changing them and that annoying TPM malfunction message would pop up once in a while and i would just hit "ok". This past week i replaced my tires and had all the sensors replaced as well and BOOM, no more TPM malfunction for the past 4 days
