X3 M-sport dual exhaust?

I was anxiously awaiting an X3M, but with the sad news that the X3M will not be going into production, I've decided that I'll most likely be getting the 3.5 instead. I love the new X3 with the m-sport kit, but I'm not a fan of the two exhaust pipes sitting on one side. I was curious if any X3 M-sport owners have installed dual exhaust systems on their vehicles? If so, any pictures?

I don't believe there are any aftermarket exhaust systems available for the F25 X3 at this point. You could get a custom exhaust made, or you could have another set of tips welded to the ?catalytic converter? on the right side, as it is horizontally aligned. I can't imagine either would be cheap, not to mention that you'd have to get your rear bumper valance cut to fit the right side exhaust. You only get one shot for that. Someone just posted about getting rear ended and how they have a 2-3 month wait for a new rear M-sport bumper. It seems like a lot of trouble.

Yea I know it's not going to be easy, I'm just seeing if anyone had done it yet.
I love everything else about the car, but the two dinky exhaust pipes on one side just irritate me for some reason, I'm more a fan of the symmetrical, parallel looking rears like those of the Q5 or the FX. Especially with a front of a car as menacing and aggressive looking as an F25 X3 M-sport.

DEVM, I see you're in Switzerland and have the 35D - How do you like it? Just ordered my 35D M Space gray yesterday and am quite excited!
I too am a bit disappointed with the double tip tailpipe on one side and would rather have it like my outgoing 335d. Do you plan on changing yours, and do you know if it would have any effect on warranty?

Yes i have my 35d one week now after 7 months waiting time. It is great. The drive goes beyond my expectations. I'm glad that i changed from 30d to 35d. In the 30d you can notice some lag, especially in low speeds. With 35d nothing like that.

I don't think changing the exhaust will have any effect on warranty, since it's no operational change. However i will stick with the standard exhaust

Wow! I just ordered and was told 5 months with expected delivery date of August - that's already too long. Were you told to expect a 7 month wait right from the start?
Btw, its funny because I was also thinking about the 30d and almost went for it. Glad I didn't.

Yes i was told 5 months as well. I did some changes in the configuration though during the wait. For example i changed from 30d to 35d, which was only possible no early than October 2011.

Although the dealer told me the changes didn't influence the delivery time, i think it did anyway. However I think that the delivery times are getting better and better nowadays.

Well I hope it gets here sooner rather than later! 5 months is surely long enough!

I kinda like the stock single sided look myself. I plan to do the golf tee mod to mine and enjoy a bit more aggressive exhaust tone all the time.

I found this exhaust while surfing today...

Can the 335i dual exhaust fit the x3, given that I do the bumper cutouts on the right side?

the 335 exhaust would likely work and fit within the area the stock exhaust is in, but might need additional work to make it fit beyond just cutting a slot for the right side. But you likely will not get additional performance/sound above stock for all the work you put into it.

Thanks, you're right I will definitely have to modify the connection to the muffler. BTW I'm gonna do it for a more symmetrical look. Don't really car much about the sound.

When I had my BMW X3. I did a custom bumper cutout which was remolded to look stock and had the supersprint rear muffler section.

Wow, never heard about this golf tee mod. Just looked it up online and watched a video where someone did it to his X3. Made a big difference. Going to do this as well. Can it do any harm to your vehicle?
