Anyone done the "Watch Your X3 Being Built Video?"
I went to add my X3 28i to my online bmw so I could at some point receive the video of it being built. Has anyone done that before?
When I went to add the X3 to the my vehicles (I now have a vin #) it asks for delivery date and mileage @ delivery. But I won't know either till I take delivery. I was hoping to see the video before delivery..Is that not possible?

My video didn't show up until at least 4-5 days after I took delivery. Also, don't trust the website or 1 800 number for production status. Most accurate status was given by my dealer.

We got our video about a week after production and a week before we went for PCD. It was fun to see, but the idea is better than the actual. Seeing the windshield installed on our actual car was interesting once, but once you get the car the video isn't a big deal. It also depends on which cameras are working for your car. I think we had 6 shots that worked but the final camera for the first drive off was not working. That was a bummer.
But then we went to PCD, which is amazing, and I got to see LOTS of other cars going through the assembly line. Seeing it live meant the video doesn't hold the allure it did when I first watched one on the web. |

I'm not surprised to hear it's not anything to lose sleep over, but I'd still kinda like to see it..
I took delivery of my car a week ago, and still don't see it...Is it in my video library? Somewhere else? I see a congratulations on your X3 and a photoshop like pix of a likeness of my Deep Sea Blue X3 with a wallpaper button - no video link though. I use a Mac @ home, is this a flash problem?

I liked it
We ordered our X3 on June 30, 2012, it was scheduled for production on August 1, 2012, it finished production on August 8, 2012, the build video was available on the BMW website August 15, 2012, the vehicle arrived at the dealership on August 15, 2012 and we took delivery on August 18, 2012.
All the cameras were active, including the shots where the X3 touches the pavement for the first time and they drive it off the line. As you know, you only see your vehicle a fixed number of times. I knew this beforehand, but when my wife saw it the first time and the car was a dark colored X3 28i (ours was a Space Gray 35i) she freaked out until I explained it to her. I liked the video and it gives you some idea of how automated the process is. Actually seemed real (finally) when they drove the X3 off at the end. |

Took delivery on 9/4 and just got my video today. A little disappointed that the last camera that shows the vehicle being driven off the line wasn't functioning.
Still kind of cool though... Thanks, dr |

Took delivery Monday, got the video today.
Same issue with the last video for me. The video, although cool, was still underwhelming. A fun keepsake though. |

Car arrived at dealership yesterday, got the video today. It's basically a long promotional video with 5 10-second clips of your car mixed in between. Shrug.

Vid of "our" AW 35i assembly line driveaway was correct color but wrong wheels so I don't know what the video depicts of "our" assembly, if anything.
