Hi All
First saw the Evoque at the Melborne Show. I thought it looked ugly then, The dealer who I bought our X3 from also sold Land Rovers. I looked at one one for fifteen seconds and just could not handle driving something that ugly!! Plus the risk of traditional Land Rover reliability, they are still at the lower end of the JD Power lists. KF |

Pretty cool, but unfortunately Q5 got a better CR score:

Not an apples to apples comparison. They tested the 28i and the Audi tested was the 3.2.
I think if they had compared the 35i to the 3.2 it would have been vastly different (even though the 2.0 was a nice ride, just not as nice as the 35i.) It doesn't really matter, in the grand scheme. Of note, CR doesn't recommend the Q5 because of below average reliability. The X3 is the highest one they actually recommend you purchase. |

The X3 has come a long way. The E83 was raw and didn't feel complete as a crossover and the look of X3 didn't help. The F25 feels and looks like a complete makeover, different car. I'm sure ride quality has improved as well.

The X3 is way better built but the RR looks unreal and has Range Rover pedigree you cannot ignore. Both are great it depends on what you want??

You're right about not being able to ignore the RR pedigree. That's exactly why I'd never consider it even if I liked the way it looks (which I don't) or if it drove well (which, I gather, it doesn't).

For those of you that haven't driven the RR (I have) you are missing nothing! The X3 is by far a better vehicle, performance, driving dynamics, technology, room but... I think the RR is a better looking car.
I think the RR is like a super model that spends too much time on the tanning bed... she'll end up looking like an old baseball glove soon enough and the X3 is more like a 'handsome' women who gets more attractive as she ages. Anyway, I long ago crossed the RR of my list and I'm thrilled BMW is going to install the n20 in the x3. The turbo four in the RR is a decent mill and now the BMW trumps that too. |

So Clarkson is blowing smoke up everyone's backsides with his love for the Ewok?
He picked it over the GT3 RS 4.0 and the 1M for their COTD.

Sorry, but was this really a surprise. Range Rovers have always driven like shitte compared with the competition.
I don't even think this Evoque looks that nice either... don't see what the furor is about. |

My girlfriend used to call her old X3 the "Lez-mobile"...damn it was ugly, the new X3 still has a long way to go to be considered nice looking. Based purely looks I'd take the Rover.

i had an Evoque on order for 4 months and got sick of waiting for it and happily changed to X3 35D once I drove one - much better car on all levels. So pleased now I've got it.

The Evoque a looker? Just how attractive can a truck be? I mean, it's still a truck.
The best looking ugly duckling is still an ugly duckling.
