X3M Digital Cockpit?
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com https://www.bmw.co.uk/pdfs/price-lis..._PriceList.pdf Page 7 & Page 16 Also on this page, https://www.bmw.co.uk/bmw-cars/bmw-m/x3-m-competition about 3/4 of the way down, under the section "New Comfort Zone" you can clearly see the edge of the solid silver ring of the previous generation dash. Also for the X4M it's very clear here about 3/4 of the way down again: https://www.bmw.co.uk/bmw-cars/bmw-m/x4-m-competition |

Maybe they are going to test customer feedback on the new 'Live Cockpit'. Certainly from reading around the forums there is a considerable split between those that like the new 'Tron' type interface and those, like me, who much prefer the traditional, albeit digital, circular designs that have the needles moving in tandem rather than opposite each other.
In my experience, M cars tend to be more traditional in focus I think. So, maybe BMW thought they would maybe not introduce the new tech on the X3M at launch. I could, of course, be completely wrong and it's just down to bean -counting ! |

You’d think they were designed by a 12 year old on a “Bring a child to work”-day.

I completely agree. I would have liked BMW to allow you to spec the more conventional twin dials as a purchase option, a bit like the choices we had when the X3 was launched to have either non-digital, half digital or the complete digital cockpit. Also, if you have the HUD, then creating the large area to display nav info in the centre of the new set-up is, I feel, rather redundant.

Seems totally useless to me. If you're an iPhone user, we already have Siri Eyes Free. If you're android, I'm sure there's something equivalent to use in the car (but maybe not, cause no Android Auto).

But Siri Eyes Free can’t, for example, turn your heated seats on.

Agreed. I didn’t really give the HUD much thought but having the car for a few weeks, I can tell you that I rarely look at the digital dash. It’s now become a “must have” on future cars.
