It's got to be production quotas based on the plant's capacity and sales demand. It's certainly not the overseas aspect of it, or the shipping. I got my German-built Z4 delivered here in the US exactly 6 weeks after ordering.

In Nordics all countries are within same quota. And that quota is distributed to retailers in this area.
But long delivery times? Might it be that the diesel 2.0 is so popular they can't produce enough engines to all cars? This could explain quick delivery times in US as they are never 2.0 diesels. And that same engine is in so many other BMW as well. The demand must be quite huge. Do they have engine manufacturing at Spartanburg or are the engines shipped from Europe? |
