Any confirmed changes for 2012 model?
Any reason to wait? I have a 2008 M3 and so I'm stuck with the piece of shit iDrive in it. If I knew that the 09's would have an upgraded iDrive I would have waited.
Are there any known/possible changes for 2012?

Hello from Germany, This is my first post at Bimmers - hello to all members. It is a friendly and informative forum. I am sure that my bad English will show some failures, but I am try to improve it ASAP According our new German price list the new 2012 X3 will have no new options and/or significant technical changes. Unless the U.S. version of the X3 is not different to the one for Germany and if you are not patient enough to wait for 2012 MY my guess is that you can go for it now. Best regards from EN (a small county in Germany ) Last edited by calagod; 07-07-2011 at 02:45 AM.. |

In Germany, there will be an upgraded Navigation (code 7SP) with RTTI, not only RTI. There will be a 2 ltr gasoline engine with 184 PS and 270 Nm (199 ft lbf). Another feature will be automatic emergency call. Dont´t know if the rest of the world will get it. I have read the german price list applicable from october 2011, and I can´t find another option changes. Unfortunately, we will have to wait for the active cruise control. Maybe there will be some improvements of the already existing features.

We'll were obviously getting the N20 engine in place of the 3.0 in line 6. The have put in now in every other model, Z4, 5 series, X1 and have said the new 3 will get it. Anyone know when 2012 production starts in South Carolina, I'm interested in an X3 with the N20 but have no interest in the 3.0 due to gas milage. Already had two X3 with that engine and milage pretty much sucked athough I'm sure the 8 speed auto helps a lot.

Welcome to our German member on the english language site. I wonder what is the wait time for new F25 orders in Germany?
Also what is the technology RTTI? What does it do in the real world? |

BMW makes the 1.6 liter turbo 4 for the Mini which I own and there has not been any HPFP problems with them and they have been in the market for 4 years now. I'm not sure about the 4.4 liter turbo V8 but just because the N54 has problems doesn't mean all BMW turbo's will have this problem (I hope). Don't get me wrong the 3.0 NA is a great engine I just don't want it 3-4 years from now when gas will be $5-6 a gallon.

All the above are market specific, but the N20 will likely be adopted more widely than the Connected Drive features.

i did not compare the complete differences. the 20d (most popular one in Germany at least) is now 200 € - roughly 250 US-$) and the 30d 250 € more expensive. The options seem to have only a few and/or little price increasements. but may there are hide some more differences in the new price list. Best regards |

The wait time takes ages (at least our feeling is like that). Average confirmed delivery time roughly 6 months (for me i.e.) It may happen that some ones get their X3 after 4-5 months, but more likely it was, that people had to wait between 6-8 months. On the peak level the delivery-times near to one year have been posted in Germany, but my feeling is that now we are looking to 5-6 months in the average - maybe because the production output has meanwhile increased in a remarkable manner. Allways you have to keep under consideration, that we have anyway a additional transport time of 6 weeks due to sea freight from the U.S. to Germany. I am prepared for anything RTTI? I can not tell you exactly what it does - from my understanding it is a kind of it is a information system about the traffic situation on the road you have in front. Best regards |
