Yep! Worked like a charm, even addressed a couple of my samsung sg2 issues.

Hmmm, haven't installed this yet and was wondering if there was anything worthwhile installing for iPhone 4. Perhaps i can now answer the phone by pressing the phone phone button on the steering wheel again....

Is it safe to perform this upgrade on NON-US cars?
I've checked on the belgian site and they still have the old version...

I really hope they made the compatibility with android phones like the galaxy nexus better, currently I don't even get the track names of my songs playing

You have to enter your VIN to get the download so this may be validating whether or not your X3 is compatible. No way of knowing for sure unless you take the plunge!

I did the update. I'll advise if the phone button the the steering wheel is improved. My old ipod nano still requires the Y cable. However, I am able to use the single USB cable with my 5th gen ipod 80GB device.

There is no risk in upgrading as one can always revert back to the privious version.

Start with www.bmw.com/update and look for software update. You need to enter last 7 characters of your VIN number. I'm not sure how does it work in other countries, this definitely works in US.

The privious update was issued in Nov 2011 and was numbered as UPD01000.bin. I'm not sure if the new update contains the changes of the privious one or is just an incremental update.

Yes indeed, I just noticed that in the manual too, thanks! :-))

I've ran the upgrade, so far no noticeable differences. My Galaxy nexus is still not having track name or other info on the iDrive

Most of the updates are related to BMW Apps.

It's Apple that are the problem not BMW. BMW provide text messages read out loud and messages displayed on iDrive using something called Bluetooth Message Access Profile (MAP). Apple still don't provide this even on the latest iPhone 5 and iOS 5. It's been around for a couple of years or so and Apple have ignored it. Complain to them and if enough people do, they might listen

Have you seen a list of what was updated as it relates to BMW Apps? The PDF for the update was fairly non-specific on details. Have you noticed anything new/different since installing?

So far it appears that Bluetooth audio is working better, previously phone would connect and stream via bluetooth audio, but I never got an sound in the car. A reboot of the phone after it connected to the car first seemed to resolve it. however, since the update it does appear that the bluetooth audio works without issue each time I get in the car, which I'm very happy about!

Installed on my UK spec X3 and all works OK and it fixes the the can't-answer-the-phone-using-the-steering wheel annoyance. Haven't tested Bluetooth audio yet but can't see any difference on BMW Apps and iPhone plug in
