Help on determine behavior on the Brake lights F25 3.5i LCI

please help me out... i have questions preferably for LCI owners pre 2016 MY.\
i have an X3 and i want to determine if the brake light behavior.
Scenario..

You have your key in your pocket and you unlock the car and apply the brakes then and there without starting or pressing any buttons yet. What is the behavior of the brake lights? do they light up or do they do not? i though the normal behavior of the vehicle was to light up the brake bulbs once your pressed the brake pedal whether you start the car or press the start button.

on my vehicle they do no until i start the car. I am not sure f this is normal. i have done some serious coding on my car and i want to make sure this is normal before blaming it on the coding.

I believe someone else asked this on the E90 forum years back as well for your exact same concern.

The FRM module does not wake up until you press start once.

Now why? Probably because they thought about maintaining the battery charge. Needless items turn off, needless items stay off.
