Different hubs or wheel bearings between F25 years?

Hi all, hoping some of you might know and would be willing to help me figure this out.

I currently have a 2011 F25 X3 28i xDrive with style 306 17" wheels. I recently bought a set of remanufactured style 307 18" wheels with part number 36116787578. For some reason these will not sit flush with the hub and it looks like it would only fit if bored out. Very strange. Does anyone know if there were different hubs or wheel bearings between different F25 models that would require specific wheel style combinations? As far as I know all F25's have the same bore size on the hub.

On RealOEM I can see style 307 has two part numbers, 36116867131 and 36116787578. As far as I can tell they are the same except for color, one black the other silver. Does anyone out there know what is going on? Thanks in advance.

according to real oem, the rear drive flange hub is the same for build years 2009 to 2017. That means that all wheel that are specific for the X3 and even X4 should fit fine. you may have an old part number installed but it if superseded then you should be fine. If you have aftermarket ones then its hard to say as far as dimensions and tolerances although they should in theory be the same.

make sure you Hub as well as the wheel hub cavity are properly cleaned before installation.

Thanks for your thoughts and info on this. The hubs were pretty rusty, so maybe they need a good cleaning? Hopefully I don't have some weird one-off X3 parts. It would be expensive to replace front and rear hubs. The fronts are expensive too being the wheel bearings are integrated. Thanks again!

Just clean the rust off of the hubs thoroughly. The wheels will bolt up fine afterwards. This is a common issue across all BMW lines.

Thanks. I wish I had known this earlier as Costco told me they could not install the wheels because they would not fit. I'm pretty sure they did not try clearing off the rust from the hub. At that point I was so confused and frustrated.

If clearing the rust does not work then there is an issue with the rim, which you said was remanufactured.. I am currently going through the process of finding a proper style 622 19" rim. The 3 remanufactured rims I came across, 2 would not fit on the hub and all 3 were slightly untrue, meaning they were not perfectly circular. Bad luck 3 times or are all remanufactured BMW rims like this? I ended up just buying a brand new rim from BMW.

I hear ya, I just thought I'd take a chance on gettting a whole set for cheap. So far it's only been a headache haha. Hopefully there is nothing wrong with the wheels and is just rust. It would stink to be stuck with wheels no one wants and not be able to recover the money spent on them.

Best of luck and let us know the outcome.

I just decide to return them and not deal with the potential issues that might come out of it. Something just didn't sit right with me being that the bore size of the 17" and 18" wheels should be identical and that the 18's won't sit flush. Anyway thank you all who spoke up to help, I really appreciate it!
