Is there an official source describing difference b/w Sport and regular suspension?

I'm referring to the Sport Suspension, which is option code 0226. I know quite a few X3's even with the M Sport Package came with standard suspension, often referred to as Sport Suspension Delete, which was option code 0225.

I'm having a hard time, even through my sales rep at the dealer, getting an official answer as to what is included in it, and I've read here and there that it's just stiffer springs, whereas my rep tells me he "understands" it includes stiffer springs, shocks and sway bars, the latter of which I really doubt...

Thanks for anyone who knows!

When I had my first X3 I researched the same thing. Using realoem I found the springs, shocks anti-roll bars and bump stops were all different.

My guess is that it's the same for the F25.

Of course! You're a genius!

I looked them up, and the struts and sway bars are definitely different. The part number for the Springs are not listed, and when I called my dealers parts Department to ask, they said that there are a bunch of different Springs depending on the option codes on the car, and they have a lookup chart for Springs, and he said that I guarantee that the Springs would be different on the sport suspension, especially if those other two things are.

Here are the part numbers in case anybody is curious:

FRONT STRUT:

LEFT FRONT SPRING STRUT 1 31316796409
FRONT RIGHT SPRING STRUT 1 31316796410
Additional shock absorber, front 2 31336787104

For vehicles with Sports suspension settings S226A=Yes

LEFT FRONT SPRING STRUT 1 31316796417
FRONT RIGHT SPRING STRUT 1 31316796418

FRONT SWAY BAR:

Stabilizer front with rubber mounting 1 31356788710

For vehicles with Electronic Damper Control (EDC) or Sports suspension settings S223A=Yes S226A=Yes
Stabilizer front with rubber mounting 1 31356788711

REAR STRUT:

Spring strut, rear 2 33526796317
Additional shock absorber, rear 2 06/2012 33536856829

For vehicles with Sports suspension settings S226A=Yes

Yeah for some reason it looks like dealers went ordering the M sport package even where switching out the sport suspension. I Can only guess that the general public sadly prefers the softer ride, hence dealers by default order the cars that way. I got super lucky that I found one that must have been factory ordered by the previous owner with the Sport Suspension on it.

I found the sport suspension only any good on really decent road surfaces, as soon as I was on a normal road it was over damped and the back end kept loosing traction.
This was a pain as I really wanted sport seats so took a while to find an SE with sport seats fitted.

What I didn't think of doing was asking for the build sheet for some sports to see if any had the m-sport suspension deleted.

Have you driven an X3 with DHP? In the Comfort mode, the ride is very nice. Switch to Sport or Sport+, and the fun begins.

Regards,

Dan.

I don`t know if my 2014 X4 M sport with adaptive dampers and 310:s, does have sport suspension or not - there is no alternative, when ordering in Sweden, but I do know, that I got a better handling vehicle after lowering, althoughI had to somewhat sacrifice ride comfort. I do not regret. Data on X4 thread: Lowering.....

Note: I have not checked wheelalignment (should not be an issue, since I am just driving in "heavy loaded" ride height). Since not changed shocks, I guess I am slightly riding on bump stops.

I'm not a fan, I had it on the 5GT and found it reacted really poorly to smaller imperfections in the road, raised ironworks, potholes etc. I then tried a 535i Touring with it and found the same again, so it sort of put me off it.

I came back to BMW this time as I missed them, however, I think on this sort of car there are other options that suit me better now.

easy enough to check. Just go here and punch in the last seven digits of your VIN, and look for your suspension code as per my first post

http://www.bmwarchive.org/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.html

since I helped you with this, why don't you post the actual link to the X4 lowering thread you refer to.

Lotus, sorry that`s beyond me . You can easily find it on X4 forum: 10:th row on first page - last comment may 24.

Thanks for tip, I will investigate - just need to get VIN.
