Iphone 5 samsung galaxy note 2 idrive

Hello
This is my first post and am not sure what I'm doing!
I have just taken delivery of a F25 x3 2.0 se auto
Problem is I have 2 mobile phones an apple iphone 5
And a samsung galaxy note 2, both phones will connect to the telephone on the idrive, but neither will connect to music from both phones, any one any ideas ? My latest effort was with iphone and lightning connector with the USB, but no luck !!! Help !

We have a Note and S3 and S4 - for all work on our SE X3 2.0D.
We have standard audio with USb connectivity.
To play audio we connect using the audio input in the console.
Bluetooth works for the phone and also cuts the music if the phone rings

Hya, does the music connect and play through your idrive ?

The music plays thro the audio input - so it is controlled on the phone.
But the volume is controlled on and bluetooth does mute it when there is a call.

The phone clearly says that only phone audio is connected, were as on my other car is says phone and music is connected by bluetooth.

Went to bmw dealer today, problem solved ! The young tech provided me with( free) a bmw Y cable for iphone 5, it works perfectly now, all through the idrive, phone radio , music from iphone ... Perfect, thanks for you'r comments, much appreciated
