TPM confusion

Ok, this is bugging me... seems my TPM is pretty damn stupid or not working correctly. I've had the "Flat Tire" notification come up on me twice in about a month, so I'm guessing I have a slow leak, and I think I know which one, but why wouldn't the TPM tell me??

First time it happened, all tires showed yellow, but that was after about 1200KMs after receiving it, so I'm thinking with the insane heat, humidity & weird atmo pressures they all lost some PSI; stop at the gas station, fill them to about 35 front, 40 back (manual says 32/38) and re-initialize/reset.

That was 1 week ago, I put 800KMs on it after a trip and this morning again the "Flat Tire" notification comes on with all 4 tires at yellow... ok... WTF. Drive home, use my gauge on all 4s and 3 of them are at pretty much same pressure and 1 is about at 28PSI (that's the real flat or slow leak probably).

My question is, why the hell do all tires show up yellow on the monitor??? 3 should be well in the green, I even double-checked on the BMW site with their small videos on this subject and his monitor showed 1 tire in the yellow before reset.

Aside from my possible leak/flat, anybody else have this TPM issue?

Thanks

When I got a flat on my 35i loaner, it specifically showed me which tire it was and it was lit up in yellow. Worked perfectly.

I was told that they don't show individual tires? Mine are always green, guess I better go give myself a flat and check!

Nope, mine showed exactly which tire was flat on the dash screen and the I-drive had the warning on it. I just kept thinking the dealer is going to shoot me for getting a flat with only 800 miles on the tire!!!

Goodyear LS2's. Heard a loud bang while I was driving but TPMS didn't come on right away (saw nothing on the road & it looked completely clear). Parked the car and 2 hours later when I came out the TPMS was on with the dash lights and I-drive warning. Drove it to the dealer who said something punctured the tire (which they were able to plug). They had to order a new tire which took 2 days to come in as no-one has them in stock. Normally RFT's can't be plugged, but if the puncture is in just the right place, they said it can be done safely.

Are you getting the message that the TPM is inactive or has malfuctioned? I had an X3 loaner and they said they have been that problem has persisted on that particular X3 loaner.

It didn't say TPM is inactive or malfunctioned. I believe TPM is still working and active; however, the TPM gave a general "flat tire" warning across all 4 tires when only one tire is low on pressure~

I checked with BMW, Canadian BMW X3 are equipped with FTM (Flat tire monitor) which is a basic version of TPM as it does not indicate which tire is low on pressure nor pressure readings. FTM is the cheap stuff, and only give a general warning when you have one or more flat tires.
