2014 X3 Lease payments - Is this a good deal?

I have booked 2014 X3 and got the production slot in 1st week of April.

I am leasing the vehicle and dealer just sent me the lease payments, I have no idea about the lease calculation.

MSRP: $45,245
Sale Price: $42,575

Down Payment: $3000
Sales Tax: 0% as there is no sales tax in OR

This is what i received from the dealer:

BMW approved your lease. The terms are 36 months 3000 down 10k per year is 521 per mo. 12k per year is 534 per month.

57% or 58% .00150 adj cap cost 41382.

Thanks

The best way to analyze the lease is to break it apart. What are you paying above US Wholesale for the X3? Then the next big question is are you getting the BMW Buy Rate or is the dealing marking up the lease rate? Always check the dealers math. Dealers love to roll it all together so that you focus on the monthly payments alone, which is to your disadvantage.

Sale price is $400 over invoice. Dealer has not sent me any details other than the monthly payments. I do not know dealer math.

Your payments seem high. As a point of reference using my car:

2013 X3 - MSRP 49,195, Sell price 44,500. I used 7 MSDs (do research on this as it will help you reduce your monthly payments). Drive off is about $1,800 without MSDs and my payment is around $500 including 9% tax.

It's not too hard to figure out the lease calculations. It's simply four things that factor your monthly payment:

- selling price of the car
- down payment
- deprecation
- interest (money factor)

If it were me, I'd also consider multiple security deposits (MSDs) before plunking down your $3,000 down payment.

I highly recommend spending 20 minutes reading up on lease calculations and MSDs before spending $42,000 on a car.

That's interesting.

I was just trying to compare, $44,500-$3500(7X5)-1800=$39,200, this amount is almost same as I was looking for.

Since there is no tax in OR, it should be around $450-$470?

Dealer did not agree to reduce the monthly payments.

I financed the vehicle through credit union. Got a pretty good interest rate of 0.74.

Pen Fed Credit Union (penfed.com).

This interest rate is only for online loan applications.

I applied through car buying service and called the customer service to change the negotiated price.

This credit union had 0.49% interest rate for new cars until March 1st.

This is the BMW special lease rate for your area, this rate is based off the MSRP of $43700:

"Well-equipped with Premium Package (Moonroof, Leather, Auto-dimming Mirrors, Lumbar Support, Ambient Lighting), Heated Front Seats, Power Tailgate and Destination charges.

$459*/month for 36 months. $750 Loyalty Cash included in payment.

• $459 First months payment
• $2,750 Down payment
• $0 Security Deposit
• $725 Acquisition fee
• $3,934 Cash due at signing"

Sounds like your dealer is trying to pull a fast one on you. With the additional $1500 in MSRP for your car, your payment should be in the area of $490 a month.

2014 BMW X3 Lease... what do you guys think

New to the forum, some great info here. I am shopping for a 2014 BMW X3 28i. One local dealer quoted:

MSRP: $40,725
$459.00 plus tax (AZ- 6%)
$2500 total down 36/1

The above is for a real basic X3. I would prefer at the very least adding a Moonroof. Looking to keep payments at $450/mo. including taxes.... realistic? Have read some good info about MSDs which might be a good option since I have cash.

Dealer pulling a fast one? Let me know your thoughts.

@alpinewhite2000 - If you decide to go with the basic X3 there's a very good chance we'll soon be seeing posts from you regretting that you can't put feature X in after the fact.

You can read those posts here all the time.

Consider adding the features that you really want - and try to get a good deal. You'll be paying more, but you'll be much happier.

x3 w/ Premium pkg is more than I need. Really just want Moonroof and Comfort options but Comfort is not sold separately. Wasn't able to make it work... could only get to $450/mo (or lower) if I traded current car, effectively putting $13k into the lease right off the bat. Guess its just a matter of wrapping my head around sinking $20k+ into renting a vehicle.
