Locking Gas Cap

Does anyone know of any place that sells a locking gas cap for 2013 X3?

I don't know of one. If it helps, the Fuel Filler Flap is locked if you lock your X3 with the remote. If you have Comfort Access then locking your X3 with the door handle should lock the Fuel Filler Flap too.

Why do you need an extra lock on gas cap? Just a curiosity!

I was wondering that too... maybe the OP doesn't want anyone pumping regular into his tank.

...and what if he forgets to carry key to that extra lock and runs out of gas on the way...

In my opinion extra lock will add problems than resolving a minor issue.

I suspect the reason is: OP is from Staten Island. As there are gas shortages here in the NY metro area due to Sandy, there have been multiple reports of people siphoning gas from cars. Haven't seen it myself, but have heard from others about it and has been reported in the papers.

How can one siphon gas out of a locked car? If one can break one lock, he can break the second one too.

Cause that flap can be popped open. This way, it's double the protection. I'm in NY and there are fuel shortages here from the storm.

It slows them down, increasing the chance they may fail at their attempt or get caught. But if someone gonna steal from me, I'm not gonna make it easy for them.
