Brakes are not smooth enough. Something to do about it?

I have a F25 2013 model, and the brakes works well to stop the car. But they are very little smooth just right before the car completely stops. You know, when you are used to let a bit off on the pedal to have a smooth stop - thatīs not possible on this car. It is stuttering when the car stops, so the car is rocking a bit back and forth. Itīs even worse with winter tires because they are not so stiff.

I was at the dealer today, and they confirmed that it was a bit "stuttery", but they could not do something about it. They could change the brakes (I can drive 11 000km in the ones I have), but could not guarantee it would be better.

This is my first BMW, and this is crazy irritating - especially when driving in queue with many stops..

Hard to explain this by words, but has anyone else experienced the same thing on X3? And can I do something about it?

It's likely the OEM BMW pads. They have a very strong initial bite which makes them touchier.

I'd recommend you try akebono ceramic pads as they are known to not have nearly as a strong initial bite.

Pads usually are different between US and Europe - but should be same Norway/Sweden - even if you are not part of EU.

I don't have that problem - I suggest you try the akebono recommended.
Probably easiest/cheapest on the Net from Germany.

Thanks a lot for the tip! Should be something to try out. Would it be enough to change the front pads to avoid my problem?

If you have a problem - "go all out".

They are crazy even in Sweden - that's why I recommended buying from Germany. My H&R lowering springs were SEK 3000 here - half price from Germany - you just have to find "right" tuning shop.

I'd try just the fronts first.... front pads wear faster so chances are changing them out would help your cause... if the issue is indeed the pads.

I had a similar issue but it was the rotors.

This is kind of a headace.. Seems impossible to find a Akebono dealer with the right part. Seems like 2.0D 163HP is not sold in the US, so they cannot say if the part will fit the 2.0D or not.

The original part number is 34106859182. Anyone who can help me?

based on realoem it looks like that part number was the same across all f25s and f26s... there were some alternate part numbers as well, most likely updated part numbers along the way. Check out the site, it's really helpful for things like this.

What about switching from halogen front light bulbs to led? Do you have any knowledge regarding this?

I'd advise you start a new topic. Short answer is no, buy another car as it's not worth the cost.
