Cancelled order

I orderered an X3 back in January through a company called New-Car-Discount.Com a subsidiary of Auto Union Finance Plc, so I thought they would be fair enough, they were offering a discount of £1600 and everything appeared ok.
I was given a delivery date of June which was then put back to August, when the Tsunami hit and various knock ons made it look like there was potential for further delays I requested a build / delivery date or order no so my neighbour (BMW salesperson) could track it for me. A reasonable request I thought, this is there response :

"I forwarded your emails onto my BMW dealer who has just come back to me making noises that he no longer wants to supply us the car. The issue I think being that he wasn't supposed to be discounting the X3 and now there is another dealer involved this could end up causing him problems."

I queried this and said no other dealer was involved and the salesperson was only trying to do me a favour.
the response, by email, not even a phone call, believe it or not was :

"Sorry about this but our supplier has cancelled the X3 order so i've no option other than to refund your deposit in full, i'll do this straight away and put the receipt in tonights post."

So, no car, no prospect of one before March - if I still want one, after this.

The Moral I suppose is that if a deal appears to good to be true, it probably is!!!!!!

What an outrage! Sorry to hear this, you must be choked and through no fault of yours. If there's no way to redeem this (and could you trust these people again) I guess you could try a plea/complaint to BMW. Paraphrase your received email(s) to show you as a victim that you are and ask if they can put you in touch with a dealer that has a slot (cancellation) and for them / BMW to honour your £1600 "special allowance" for your trouble. I'm sure they won't want you to buy a Q5. Good luck.

Sorry to hear that. What a bunch of clowns. Make sure you slag this website off as much as possible and in as many places as possible!

Good luck if you decide to start over with a new order but it's understandable if you throw the towel in

Sounds like a contractual issue to me. You may have grounds to pursue it.

YORKIE - "The Moral I suppose is that if a deal appears to good to be true, it probably is!!!!!!"

It seems you answered you own question/rant. You thought you were going to get a big discount, but the third-party "supplier" can't deliver. Maybe a lesson was learned here?

Could be that the supplier couldn't deliver on his promise and was just looking for an excuse to get out of the deal.

I would be taking legal advice. A deposit maybe considered acceptance of contract, so if you accept it back you let them off the hook. Worth a phone call to a lawyer, unless your deposit was fake too. Sorry for your news.

Their terms does have a section that makes interesting reading...

The discounted price on some of the brand new UK registered cars that are supplied by us has been achieved by being originally "Fleet Registered". In some circumstances this means that the V5 (known as the "registration document" or "logbook") will show you recorded as the second keeper. In these circumstances we will retain the V5 for a period between 2 to 6 months from the original registration date (depending on the manufacturer/supplier). The V5 will then be forwarded on to you directly from the DVLA once the relevant period has elapsed.

simply a case of the supplying dealer has 'sold' the slot at a higher (list) price. My dealer told me they cannot sell higher than the list price, even with some customer who will pay anything to beat the wait times

This is quite common practice with 3rd party sellers. You usually get about 10% off list but you're not the 1st registered owner which can obviously have a big affect on resale value

Sadly I think that's the risk you embrace going with a third party reseller. The advantage of that eludes me. Hope you find an alternative that works for you.

Well, OK, good you are happy. Your problem was with the third party seller, not BMW. Good luck with the Jag.

From Disco to X3 to Jag!!! What a journey! I love the look of the XF but it's a far cry from an X3 in terms of functionality. Good luck. At least there's no more waiting and getting dicked around

Congrats, nice choice Dont blame you March is a bridge too far!

Post pics of XF when you get it (jaguarforum.co.uk is a great forum you should give it a look)

You will not be disapointed in the Jag it is right up there with the best for the money (one thing is they are rubbish in the snow/ice - really, really bad - you will get stuck!)
