new X3!

So excited, Ive had my 135is for 5 months now and finally got around to ordering a new X3 as our family car! Placed our order today so hopefully will be seeing our new car in August. We might even do the whole pcd thing...
AW with Oyster and brushed Al, driver asst, Nav, HK oh and Xline. We went with the 28 motor, felt it had good power, and we always have the 135is when we feel the need for madness.

Seriously can't wait to get the X3. We test drove quite a few and I felt the Xline felt more planted than the one with the stock rims. Less bounce, and the rims are fantastic. It's too bad the oyster leather doesn't include the Xline piping, but it still looks awesome.
Our 135 is BSM on black, so it should be nice having polar opposites.

Dealer installed Sirius. I wasn't aware you could go that route if you didn't want the other features of the Premium package.

In my case, I wanted the other features, so i spent the extra money. But many people don't want the sun roof.

I could probably have lived without some of the features in the Technology Package, but the one item I wanted pulled in the others.

Waiting!

This is my first post, though I've been lurking for awhile. It was a good thing I found the site - I've learned a great deal from the postings. Thanks everyone!

Yesterday I placed an order for a 35i XLine, with tech package, driver assist and driver assist plus packages - and with added heated front seats, parking assist and rear window shades. I chose Space Gray with the black Nevada leather (wanted it with the gray contrast stitching but the ordering software wouldn't allow it). And selected the anthracite trim. As such, it'll be just like my last two cars (2008 VW GTI, and currently, a loaded 2010 Infiniti EX35).

Apparently, the X3 line is undergoing summer servicing so my car will take about 8 weeks to arrive. Because my dealer's system had crashed I don't have a production number yet. Any suggestions on immediate things to do upon delivery (besides getting out of the finance office without getting taken for warranties or whatever...though it seems the tire/wheel warranty may be a good purchase).

BTW, the X3 won out for me over the Lexus RX 350 F-sport, Audi Q5, Cadillac SRX, and Acura RDX - for various reasons. My BMW dealer let me BORROW a 35i for 24 hours because I wanted to drive it on my regular commute, and at night. It also gave me a couple hours to explore the iDrive system, get used to the shifter, and that engine Stop/Start feature (weird thing that!). That gesture closed the deal for sure! And now I'm missing the car terribly! How do people bear the waiting?

Any additional advice is welcome!

Good to see you here, and sounds like a great choice. I had NEVER considered a BMW before but my wife drove an X5 and liked it. The dealer was very helpful (OCEAN Plymouth) and let us have an X1 for a weekend, and an X3 & X5 for a day each. X5 was too big and X1 a bit small so went for the X3 and just love it. The wait was 10 weeks but we picked it up in time to go on holiday to France (2000mile road trip!) and it was a delight the entire way.

Stop/start works fine for us (but not for many others!) and the auto is just fab!

So look forward to seeing pics of yours and the OPs soon... enjoy

Hi There - I am new to this forum and wanted to say congrats. I have had my 2014 X3 28i for about 4 weeks now and love it. I never got a car with only 6 miles on it before!
I have a 2000 Z3 (mid life crisis car), and it used to be my favorite over my honda. Well....maybe not so much anymore? With a new X I have to make sure I get in the Z so she doesn't feel too left out!

Thanks for the congrats everyone! Some quick pics for now, but higher quality and interior ones are coming once we are done moving The X3 is absolutely fantastic!!!! We got her with 2 miles on the odo

Re: dealer installed Sirius, the service dept would download the Sirius software on the car, as the X3's all have Sirius preparation from the factory. It can be expensive, but we didn't want the whole package it came in, so it was cheaper that route.

We disabled our stop/start - on the 15's it stays disabled until you re-enable it, not sure if the 14's did that.

We actually got ours in just about 3 weeks, but that's because our dealer had a couple of slots already scheduled, but still had time to change the options on them, and since they weren't booked for any client, they let us take their slot and spec out our car.
We wanted to do the whole PCD thing, but would have had to wait another 4 weeks to be penciled in, so we decided to just get our car early instead and later on make a trip to the factory for a tour

We did opt out of the Sunroof (didn't want that whole premium package), and saved around 1700$ doing that and ordering the leather as a standalone option.

I just ordered mine last week, but it will be ready only in February

I chose Melbourne Red with Oyster, but these pics make me wonder again...

Thanks all, we absolutely love this color combo.
The Xline pkg looks great but I also found makes a big difference in handling too. Less sway with the 19" rims that come with it in the US.
ZZZ if the Melbourne red is a dark metallic red, then we actually saw one at the local dealer, it did look sharp too, but white on white it was for us =) my 1 is black on black so it makes a nice combo.

One of my favorite things about the X3 is how everything is so well coordinated from an interior lighting perspective:

Sweet!
Meant to ask, what are the little yellow lines in the dash on top of the gauges? I see them in mine but they are never on.

I believe that is lane keep assist (or whatever BMW calls it).
