Headlight washer fluid smell
I pulled in my garage yesterday and used the headlight washers. When I got out of the car, it smelled like rotten fish guts from the spray. I tested it again today in the garage and the smell is aweful. Does anyone else have this problem? There is no smell if I just use the window washer spray, but as soon as I use the headlight washers it REEKS. While I'm on the subject, what is the trick to getting the headlight washers to work when you want them to? I had to pull on the stalk at least 6 different times holding it for quite a while waiting for the headlight washers to spray. Every time it would spray the windshield but the headlight washers didn't come on. About the 6th time I did it, it worked. What's the deal?

Headlight washers only spray when the headlights are on. So if you just pull the stalk back with no lights on only the windshield gets sprayed.
If yours is doing something different and the jets/pipes are blocked that may account for the fishy aroma. Neighborhood cats must love you when you come home! |

Thanks LeChef for letting me know about the lights needing to be on. I had thought if they were in the auto position it would work. Good to know. Now if I could just figure out why it smells so bad!!
