3.0d 160 Kw Engine Cover Removal / Rear 2 allens Keys

Hi all

Thank you for the info on this forum .
I have a 2007 3.0d X3 160 Kw which has a engine cover that has about ( I think ) 8 allens keys screws in it and 2 of which are located under (I think its the pollen filter behind the strut brace) how do you remove remove these last two screws ? do you have to remove the entire pollen filter and if so how do you do that ? are their any detailed instructions to do this ? I have a chip to install and need access under the engine cover I have attached a pic of the engine cover as well.

Cheers to all

Do you have a proper Torx bit set?
I can't recall exactly where the rear bolts are, but I can easily remove my Aussie spec 3.0d's engine cover...
Where in Oz are you & what chip did you buy?

Daz.

Hi Daz

I am in NSW and got a http://www.ebay.com/itm/300625706864...84.m1439.l2649 I am in NSW
I couldnt justify paying 1500 for one here!!

Does your 3.0 litre look like mine ? same engine cover ? Torx they use allen keys 3/16"..
The back two bolts are under the pollen filter I cant see how to take then out easy. I believe mine has the updated engine cover I was told .. any clues would be appreciated if you know how to take out the pollen filter.

Cheers

Ahh - Right you are!
I have 5 Allen head bolts on my engine cover & you can easily see the corrugated intake hose on the driver's side.
Your cover is different to my late 2006 model's!

p.s. No offence - But I think you're mad buying that dodgy looking Ebay chip!
For the love of god - have your car run up on a dyno post fitment to ensure a safe EGT!!!

Hi

Yes I may do that I think .. did you know most of the chips are the same and only the cable is different it seems .. this is common with every one ..

Also I believe in OZ anyway the 2006 and 2007 are very different.. The suspension and running gear is different and they went from a 150 kw to a 160 kw engine ..

Thanks for your time.

Cheers

+1 on "For the love of god"

Rather than hijack the thread I kicked off another thread on this.
