disappointments

ok I have read all the threads about wonderfully surprised and apps and such I thought I would list the disappointments in the x3 and apps.

1. cant close tailgate via key remote
2. dont care about twiter and fb would like to read email
3. having to pay bmw 200 for their office feature
4. dont really care about music, and my old katana phone could make calls, big deal
5. the car locater feature doesnt really take me to the car just the general vicinity
6. cant access siri via the voice command thing in the car

all in all this technology seems very limited, and could be vastly improved on by bmw and iphone. thats all

1. Tailgate doesn't close for safety reasons but can be coded if it's an absolute must.
2. Depends on your phone, guessing your have an Iphone so it's not BMW's fault but good news...it will be coming this fall on IOS6!
3. I really wont say nothing about this but the way I look at it if it's got value get it
4. what?
5. It must have to do with your satilite around your area mine takes it directly to the stall lol
6. Siri is a new feature that came out after the BMW X3 was designed. I hear that Siri will be integrated on the next software update but don't quote me on this.

You would have been able to roll up the windows by touching the door handle if you had that option.

Garage List
On UK models if you hold down the lock button on the fob it closes the window. Also opens all the windows if you hold down the unlock button on approach.

Biggest disappointment is having to press the iDrive disclaimer message and stop-start off button each time I get in the car. So annoying and should be made an option in iDrive.
Minor disappointment is not having "cover art" for music not appear if you don't purchase sat-nav.

The standard seats are the only major disappointment for me. The plastics feel a bit cheap in some places as well.

1. stupid Navigation disclaimer message
2. moon roof does not slide back without the sunshade fully retracted. (I do like the tilt open/closed where the sunshade automatically retracts/closes about 18")

- My former a6 wagon had a light on the tailgate that lit the ground behind the hatch. I wish that easy feature was on the x3.

- The gauges are not lit during the day. It's hard to read when entering the tunnel or on tree shaded roads.

rain sensing wipers. I wish you could control the intermittency without the rain sensing. Or maybe have more finite control of the rain sensing.

RFT's...give me regular tires and a spare.

I want to have the sunshade cover the rear glass roof and have the front open. You can do this but if both are closed, you have to open both and then retract the sunshade half way. Maybe they should have had an express button for faster opening/closing.

This thread has a lot of issues that can be resolved with changing the options via coding. I had a few things that annoyed me but they are gone now. You guys with problems like disclaimers, lock unlock features etc. should definitely get on it

If front wipers are on the rear should give a sweep when reverse is selected. I had this on my old Skoda and it was a very useful feature.

When the rear wipers are on while reversing, it actually continues to swipe the rear window until you re-engage Drive.

I am not much of a tech guy but I would try coding if
1. its not to expensive
2. isnt really complicated. in other words I dont want to do code, like computer code.
3. I can find directions etc on how to do it fairly easy. (like google)

Front wipers cannot stay upright for cleaning. Design of driver floor pedals prevents purchasing aftermarket mats. Aftermarket tire rims difficult to find. Poor description of option packages.

1. Cable shouldn't cost much at all. If you make one yourself its really cheap. If you buy it then I think I paid around 50 Euros.
2. Its not complicated. Its not coding, its merely changing settings in a menu.
3. There is a good pdf guide floating around that will get you up and running.

You do realize that the disclaimer will go away on its own after a few seconds without pressing anything, right? The message itself is kind of silly, but BMW certainly isn't the only automaker that does this. I do agree that it would be nice to be able to set the default for stop-start to "off" via iDrive
