buy now or later

the 2015 X3 35i does not a seem to be a great deal different from my 2012 X3. The 35i motor and power train are really outstanding but virtually the same in both vehicles. While they are similar, It seems to me that the 2015 would be a good choice to move up-to now, rather than wait for the 2017 G01, that is due to hit the market in late 2016.

The G01 is planned to have some interesting model changes but from a comfort and performance stand point it does not seem to be a great leap forward.

perhaps the 2015 may be a good purchase now rather than wait for the G01 that may only be marginally better.

If your 2012 is fine, i say wait for the x40i M model OR wait for the G01, isn't it Ironic how the 7 Series is F01 and the X3 is G01? Seems like X3 has gained its rank lol

The 2015-2017 model years are the F25 LCI, the G01 will be a 2018 model year vehicle released in Q3 2017.

My understanding from several post was the NEW G01 would launch in 2017 and of course be available the 4th quarter of 2016 (not 2018). I'm holding out for the 40i M version - but not certain which year XM will be released.

Hence, I'm waiting.....

Thanks for the feed back, given the good condition of my 2012 X3 I agree with the comments that it is a good plan to wait for the new model.

There's a 7 year product lifecycle, for the F25 it's the 2011-2017 model years with production of those model years from Q3 2010 through Q2 2017.

The G01 will most likely begin production in Q3 2017 as a 2018 model year vehicle.

Just a few thoughts, Amber. In our view our 2015 X3 35i does seem a step up from our 2012 35i, especially with regards to seat comfort and overall 'fit and finish', so we are glad we traded in our 2011 X3 35i for the 2015 version. With that stated, I have to disagree with your assessment of what it seems the G01 will bring to the table. None of us (unless you are BMW Design and Engineering reading this forum) know for sure what the finished product will offer, but as we all discussed in the 'Wish List...' thread, BMW is aware of what it is up against (Porsche, Audi, ...), and I would really doubt they will leave much on the floor as they put this one together.

For us, this may be the first time we hold on to a vehicle past its 4 year guaranteed warranty, so that we can trade in our 2012 for the G01. I will be very surprised if it doesn't become 'the' choice for this automotive segment.
