Anyone ever imported a NEW Bimmer outside their country?

....if imported, from which country and costs compared locally and warranty issues.

No BMW experience but ...

I imported a VW Golf GTI through an independent company to the UK. Made in the same factory they made all the VWs for official VW dealers (in Norway at the time), full UK spec, me as first registered owner, price paid was £20,500 compared to dealer over £25,000. The fact it was imported privately has made no difference now to its resale value nearly 5 years on.

how was your warranty handled given you imported the bimmer to a different country of purchase?

2 BMW and one Mini into the US. No warranty problems. They were built to US spec, not sure whether that mattered. Did need to "register" them with BMW (and Mini) North America. Taxes were the bigger issue. For us, having enough miles to be considered used makes a huge difference.
