Not sure about the 30i, but my M40i just went into production today with an estimated completion of next Friday.

My M40i will be complete week 44 (around Nov 6th) but will not be released until the 11th. Go figure.

Not the 30i, but our M40i was released to the Carrier yesterday. Haven't heard where it will be stored until the 11th, but it best have its doors locked as I don't want that nice Vernasca broken in for us!

My week 42 build was moved to 43 (not sure if dealer misquoted) but when I called on 10/23, completion was 10/24. And when I called yesterday to confirm, the date was now 10/25. So a call to a real person indicated that the date was 10/25, but there was no VIN number assigned yet, and the car had not gone into the body shop yet for some reason. She was as pleasant as she could be, but indicated it is unlikely the car will complete today, and could not see any information as to why the order hadn't gone to the body shop yet.

Sounds like some element of the build may not be available as I know from past orders, the manufacture goes from 151 to 152 (Paint) to 153 (Assembly) in a few days. So if a component isn't available, they'll defer the build.

Anyone else have better news, or are all 30i's in the same status?

.
My 30i went into production on Oct 19th with an estimated completion date of Oct 31sth and I was provided a VIN. However the status is still listed as "in production" but not body shop, etc. Hopefully this doesn't translate into a further delay.

It's interesting that yours went into production a few days after mine (my dealer texted me on the 16th that we entered production), and you have a VIN and there's none for me. Production normally takes only a week, so to start on 10/19 and end 10/31 sounds unusual. My 535dx went from body shop (status 151) to production completed (155) in 4 days.... and SC is a newer factory than in Germany, so I would think it would be just as fast if not faster.

In some ways, works well as my current lease ends in mid-November, but always look forward to a new BMW.

My wife's M40i will be completed today. It went into production last Thursday, so it took a week on the button.

I think BMW's IT systems are the worst.

I magically went from no status on 10/24 (as in not in body shop or a VIN assigned) to fully assembled and quality control completed 10/25.

Anyhow -- happy it's done and now waiting on transport. That only took a week with our last X3, so we will see this time. Nice to just wait on a truck from SC instead of a ship from Germany!

I'm picking up tomorrow afternoon. So whatever caused the delay (mileage testing?) has been resolved.

Can people picking up thier cars please take and post a lot of pictures so that those of us waiting (and others that are contemplating) can enjoy them to hold us over for a bit.

Even though mine is a few weeks away, I’m just really excited to see them in the hands of forum members. Looking forward to lots of answered questions.

Great news, AUS1969, so we should be able to pick-up this afternoon or tomorrow morning as well!

I still have no production week... called BMW Genius and nothing yet. It's been 3 weeks since I placed the order and I thought I would have some indication by now.

BUT, everyone's pictures are making me and it's helping me cope.

Haha overly dramatic, am I?

I just got my production number from my dealer. BMW website looks like it has 5 steps. Start, Production Begins, Production Ends, Finishing Touches, At Your Dealer. I'm in "Production Begins," but the website doesn't show any dates. Does anyone know what I should anticipate for delivery in the Northeast? Is their a different portal that you have all used to get your dates? I ordered on 10/18. Thanks!

Congrats on the order. I've found BMW Genius at 1.844.4GENIUS the most helpful. For example the my bmw website under my X3 has the in production info graphic but when I called the genius today they told me it was complete awaiting transport to distribution and gave me the VIN.
