Wing mirror not working

Hi guys

My passenger side wing mirror does not fold out/extend anymore. It was working fine a couple of months ago and in the last couple of weeks intermittently, but now it's now working at all. The driver side works ok.

Any thoughts on what could be wrong?

Mines a 2012 model.

The mirrors swivel on a little plastic gear that can get stripped out over time and many uses. If you have it coded for the mirrors to fold when the car locks, it puts a lot more use and wear on them than BMW anticipated.

Over the years since 2012 it is likely the gear could have gotten stripped.

It's started to work again, but I'm not going to fold them in just in case they do not extend again.
