Picked it up

Color combination Sophisto Grey - Oyster Nevada Leather is perfect. Only dislike is the suspension is a bit too hard.

Congrats chopper45, beautiful colour.
I can't wait the last days before I get mine. Is the rear spoiler the only M Performance part you added? or did you added some M Parts inside too?

Hi There,

Pictures don't actually do the color justice.... I only added the spoiler and probably won't add anything else to be honest as I'm really happy with the way it is. Good luck the pick up

Chopper45: What are roads like on Ireland? Do you have adaptive dampers? I would think that adaptive dampers should go with 20".

Hi, A lot of the roads i drive are not great. This was a demo that i bought so didn't get to choose the spec. If i had i would have added adaptive dampers, but then again I think they should be part of the M-Sport package and not another extra....

Yea- our 2011 X3 35i M Sport w/o DHP was jarring. Our 2015 with DHP is more composed and compliant over all surfaces (particularly uneven pavement).

Surprised they would spec an X4 w/ 20" but no DHP.

Honestly- I'd sell it while it's worth about what you paid and order one with DHP.

The X4 has M Sport Package as you see plus 225 Sport Suspension plus the 20" wheels. In my opinion DHP should be part of the M Sport Package when Sport Suspension is selected....

Strange Dealer you had Chopper45.
My Dealer has the same point of view as cSurf dealer. When I bought my actual X3 35i Msport in 2011, he advised me to ABSOLUTELY NOT CHOICE the M sport suspension. As I had already configured by myself the car, he was surprised I selected the Adaptive Suspension. Now after 3 years with it and 19" wheels, I am totally convinced by the adaptive suspension. Even the 318d E90 with standard wheel that the dealer gave me now until I receive the X4, has an harder ride quality than the my ex-X3 with adaptive suspension.
But here I must add, I test drove an X4 30d M sport with adaptive suspension and 20" wheels. With the 20" Wheels it is a little bit firmer than in the X3 with the 19" in Normal/comfort mode.

Ok, now understand harsher ride 20s and sports sus is rough. One cal also have suspension delete for smoother ride.

Btw congrats on the car.

Hi There, It's my own fault really I guess.... I didn't test drive the X4 on poor surface and i'm not sure if the one i tested had sport suspension or not. It was great on nice smooth roads though. I didn't order my X4 either... It was a demonstration car, but one that was just in the showroom and never on the road until i picked it up... I'm now looking into changing springs and dampers as i don't want to lose the 20" wheels....

Coilovers might help.

Springs alone really wouldn't get the job done. It's really the tuning of the dampners that are causing your problem.

Either way- you're probably better off swapping out X4s.

To me, X4 is sitting about 25mm (1") too high, but if you are happy with the height, the best thing would be to install adaptive dampers. Might be a bit expensive.....

I have the M package with 20' rims and DHP and I was expecting a harsher ride compared to my X3 M package with 19" wheels, but it was actually a smoother ride.

I think the first thing to try is to get rid of the run flats, now which tyre to pick is the next question..................

I spend a lot of time in Ireland with my car ... the roads are great for driving on ... but not with Msport suspension ... that's for sure ... the new motorways out of Dublin are great, but my car kills me on the country/bog roads, one of the main reasons that I am not ordering Msport on my new car

My wife's Merc C Class is so much nicer to drive around Galway's crappy roads

Lovely car .... enjoy
