Oyster leather with aluminum trim?

Does anyone have this combo? Can you post pics. I love the trim but am afraid it will look too light next to the oyster leather. Especially the door panels. I don't care for the wood trims. Also any idea how much after market trims like a black gloss would cost?

Almost unbelievable that bmw didn't give us the option to get simple, nice looking black trims hey... the X3 is really a supêr looking car but the configuration limitations are frustrating!

Anyone knows if there will be aftermarket trims available?

I rather like the lightness of the aluminum with the oyster. Very Scandinavian looking.

It's not for me, but I agree about the Scandavian thing for those who like that look in a car.

Would have like bamboo trim on this one.

I would hazard a guess that the reason that there aren't many pictures of oyster + alu is that hardly anyone has gone for it, and with good reason IMO. Can't see alu working with oyster or beige. Take some tin foil into a dealership that has an oyster demonstrator and see if it works

The B & I dash kits seem pretty good. They are available on site likes carid.com. It says they have trim for the 2011 X3 but the schematics are for the previous X3 style. Im sure they will come out with the aftermarket trims very soon. Maybe they are already out, and the schematics are not updated. Worth a call? Let me know how you make out if you do.

Oyster and aluminum looks slick to me

Oyster and aluminum is my choice also, has been for a while based on the configurator. Would also love to see real life pics if anyone has this combo.

I actually quite like the oyster & aluminum combo, it looks very clean and sleek. The sienna trim will always look great with lighter leathers but I find the wave to be too dark with the oyster. It's a shame that there's only four trim options and one of them happens to be plastic sprayed silver. Come on BMW, where are my 10 million combination mentioned in the super bowl?!

I think this looks sharp. If I had gone with leather, I might have done this combo. The Aluminum is very easy to keep clean and looking new.

LOL, is that what happened, I did this when I woke up and thought maybe I didn't really type anything and just thought it in my head and hit send! nice to know they have an app that doesn't work.

anyway, I was wondering why the one reply said its plastic painted silver for the trim? In my old M Coupe it was actual aluminum trim, could feel it... Maybe they are thinking of the Silver Satin? Or is the aluminum not really aluminum?

The Aluminum trim in the US spec X3 is real metal.

Yeah, isn't it actually brushed aluminum, not painted plastic? Anyone know for sure?

What I meant by the plastic sprayed silver is the base 28i trim. There are a total of 4 trims across both models which are the sienna & wave wood, brushed aluminum (real metal/what OP asking about), and the silver matte standard on the 28i.

The Silver Matte is painted plastic. The Brushed Aluminum is real metal.

I left some feedback on the App Store telling them about it and it's an easy fix so they should sort it out. I didn't want to be too critical as it is a free app and generally works pretty well

found this on the E90 forum

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=302530

shows an actual picture of oyster with aluminum, not in an X3, but you get the idea, looks pretty close to the config pictures, I think my biggest question is the doors, in the E90 it doesn't appear that the trim is on the doors like it is with the X3, which rides right up against the leather, would be nice to have black separating them like on the dash and center console.

The configurator is generally a pretty poor representation and highly recomend going to the dealer to see the actual samples (flash photography also plays havock with colours so beware of online pics)

only problem is most dealers (in the US at least) don't have many in stock, I went to Patrick BMW (Chicago area) and they had 2... Oyster leather is hard to find let alone it matched with the aluminum trim, not likely a dealer stock vehicle. Might have to call my dealer and ask him to give me a ring if they ever get an order in with this combo and I will try to get there before the owner does to check it out.

They should have small sample cards 2" by 4" for trims (wood/silver/alu) and say approx. 6" by 8" leather
