1200 miles in and still smiling

I have just passed the 1200 mile run in period and 1 month of ownership. I am still very pleased with my decision but for the sake of balance here are my thoughts:

+ve
3.0d is a great engine very quiet and smooth and it shifts!
Handles very well for such a tall car especially when in Sport mode
No rattles or wind noise (except minor point below)
Overall appearance is impressive interior and exterior - Mineral Silver with XLine
The extras were worth having - comfort access, pro nav, electric seats, winter pack (esp heated steering wheel), visibility pack, variable dampers
Rear/top view camera is excellent
Interior trim in Satin Silver is good - don't know why so many people say it isn't

-ve
Fuel economy not as good as I hoped/BMW advertised - 30mpg average up to 35mpg on a motorway run
Lower quality plastics on tailgate and lower door sections. I have a very minor creak that I think is the plastic on the tailgate but it isn't persistent so I am not that bothered
Sports seats and driving position - still trying to get the perfect setup

Overall I love being in the car and the "Joy..." strap line is spot on.

Nice compact little summary....thanks. Helps us peeps waiting for our cars. Bet the 3.0d is cracking in X3, had that in our X5 (now gone) - a great engine, can only imagine the 35d. Our order is for 2.0d which suits our budget and requirements right now.

I can tell you that if I had unlimited budget, I would have gone as well for the 3.0d or 3.5d, but on the other hand I got the 2.0d and it is fully satisfactory, with a very good balance of power and economy.

I haven't made the conversion but I do (3000km ran so far) around 14-15 km per liter on a high traffic/urban path, which is pretty ok for such a heavy and "square" car.

Also have about 1200 miles and am thrilled. Love the naturally aspirated inline 6. No rattles, squeaks or wind noise. The one item that gives me pause is the electronic throttle. Every time I drive the car it seems to react differently. I'd like to not think this much about how hard or quickly I step on the gas.
