Ready to order---take a look
Anything missing that seems important? Opinions wanted.
xDrive35i Jet Black Sand Beige leather Fineline wave wood trim Convenience Package -power tailgate -comfort keyless entry -window shades (wonder if these are easy to uninstall? -cargo net Premium Package -auto-dimming interior/exterior mirrors -moonroof -lumbar -storage package -interior light package Heated front seats/steering wheel Navigation I'm really thinking about NOT getting the premium package because I simply do not care about the moonroof--I won't use it. Then I can add the rear camera and park distance. I wanted to keep the car under $50k and this is right there. Oh....and I was thinking about getting the aluminum rails, but not sure if they will look odd hanging out there. Thoughts? |

Looks like a good build, and you've done your research and put some work into it. IMHO the Premium package is an absolute must. Trust me on that one... really. Have I ever lied to you?
I hope your hubby like to wash and maintain cars.... that black will be high maintenance. the aluminum rails look great on any color - but best on black. My X5 is black sapphire with the aluminum rails, and it is very nice.

My husband really likes the alpine white and I could still do that and change to black interior and add the sport package...I'm just not a white car kind of girl! In a convertible, yes!
I bought him a pressure washer not long ago that will be seeing a lot more use very soon! |

NO!!! Don't use a pressure washer on a BMW. Look, Ohio is far away but do I have to come out there and hold a private washing class?
I test drove one that was mineral silver, which I thought was a nice color ($550 more though). Seriously, you have to get the color you want. You'll live with it for a long time. Funny, I never considered white until the first one I owned, and have been getting white ever since.

I knew I would get in trouble about the pressure washer! lol! I just know he's going to use it...he washes everything we own when that thing comes out!
I really want black and I really want better wheels, but the aluminum trim around the windows is a deal breaker for me. So it leaves me stuck. The white would let me get everything I really want...except the color! HA! |

I'm not sure how soon you want your X3 and where your dealer allocatio nstands but adding the Power Lift Gate option is causing delays in some orders. Might not be a big deal if you don't need the X3 for a few months.
Looks like a good build. Keep the roof rails, they will look nice and are not something you can easily add later. |

I'm ready to place my order too and I keep flipping between ordering the black saphire metallic or the mineral silver. Black is my favorite by far, but mineral silver would be much easier to keep clean. I wash my vehicle every week in the winter and mutiple times during the week in summer, so I'm prepared to deal with the black. It's the swirl marks that concern me on the black! Decisions, decisions!

Bmw will be no different with the swirl marks! I may just have to get the car professionally detailed twice a year in hopes that I won't get the swirl marks as bad. Any car that is black is a Bi#%# to keep looking good!

by 'swirl marks' are we talking about small scratches in a swirl pattern? My black toyota had this weird colored orb on the hood that drove me nuts. Which are we talking about or both? EEEK.

the darker colors all show these light swirl marks much more. You'll notice them when the sun or lights hit the panel at different angles. They would look like tiny hariline surface scratches. One of the main reasons we went with alpine white.

Zaino makes great car cleaning products. I've been using them for years.....expensive, but well worth the money.
They have one in particular on their website that is designed specifically for taking out the swirl marks on dark and black colored cars. I've always had lighter colors, but I've heard great things from many car enthusiasts about Zaino's swirl removing product(s). www.zainostore.com |

I'm mostly talking about when you wax the vehicle and get the "swirl" marks. At certain angles the car looks great then you look it from a different angle and it looks like crap. Of course you just have the everyday marks that show up as well.

Metallic paint (sapphire black) hides the swirls better than flat black, my last 3 cars have been flat/matt black and worst paint damage on my BMW's was caused by bird shite!

I have had Jet Black cars and never would agaiin, whereas I might consider having the metallic black, Sapphire Black. Metallic easier to keep looking good of the two blacks.

Have you thought about black sapphire? I had that on my 3 series and ordered it on the X3. It wasn't too hard to keep clean (but I wash and detail my cars frequently). I have heard that black sapphire helps with hiding swirls - i haven't had a jet black to compare, but I liked the black sapphire enough to order it again...

Just keep whats-his-name away from the pressure washer when he gets ready to wash it. Otherwise, you'll be saying "Please, I'd rather do it my self! (dear)"

Good luck with your color choice - and get what you really want. But seriously... no pressure washer.
