ConnectedDrive App

Has anyone had issues with ConnectedDrive App (the new one, with blue icon) and it not talking to the car via the ConnectedDrive servers.
I was unable to add my car via the app or via the web site, the car never received the code. In the end I had to get BMW to manually add the car to my ConnectedDrive account. Still the RemoteApp functions do not work, neither car location. Google "send to car" doesn't work either, but all this worked really well in my previous older X3.
RTTI, BMW Online and the other services work within the car.

BMW say
"There are a number of reasons why the vehicle didn’t receive the code. As the information is sent from our back end systems in Germany, signal plays a big part in the interruption of the message being received. We’re aware this is happening on occasions and we’re always looking at ways in which we can improve the service."

I have now had the issue escalated to BMW Germany, but I don't hold out much hope after reading other posts on multiple forums, where others have had the same issue and no resolve after weeks of communication with dealers and BMW. Seems like it's a 'if it works, then all well and good', 'if it doesn't, then too bad'.

ConnectedDrive App is terrible. The predecessor, the BMW Remote app was a lot better. Now, I can't see the location of the car if ignition is on. In the past I used the feature to help me gauge how fast my wife is approaching my work to pick me up.

The App tells me that GPS isn't enabled in the car, but it is. I can't even do Google 'Send to car' either, so not just the app at fault. All the in car ConnectedDrive stuff works, BMW online, RTTI etc..

I have read that maybe the combo box needs a reset, and the only way is to disconnect the battery for ~20min. I am contemplating this as a last resort.
I hope I don't have to code anything upon re-connection of battery?!?

Dealers tell me there is nothing they can do to resolve the issue, as they have no access to ConnectedDrive servers.
I am not sure if the issue is within the car, or their servers/application.

Google Maps

Have a 2016 BMW X3. I can do SEND TO CAR in Google Maps.

I can also search for a location in BMW Connected car and send the message to my car. Don't like the search function, but it does work.

The app suddenly stopped working.

I have IOS on an iPhone 7 and when I launch the app it crashes and close.

App was working fine a couple of months ago.

Anyone else have this problem?

It works for me, but takes about 1 to 1.5 minute(s) for the horn, headlight, lock, and unlock features to execute.

same here,but remember the request has to reach the back end servers and then get sent out to the vehicle.
