Panoramic Sunroof Problem
Now that the weather has been better we started driving with the sunroof fully open instead of just popped up. An interesting and annoying phenomenon has plagued my wife and I. With it fully open and the windows closed, pressure builds inside the cabin and a helicopter rotor like noise is produced and the pressure pulses actually hurt your ears. Cracking a side window allieviates this but then you get the increased noise from that. Has anybody else noticed this?

Are you opening it past the standard comfort stopping point? If so, it will cause that to happen. I find as long as I leave it open to the regular stopping point, I don't get the uncomfortable ear pressure.

There's a very simple solution to this, very effective. I had the same issue with my previous 320d. Just slightly open one or two of the rear windows (less than a cm/half an inch) and you should be set.
In general you just need to find by playing a little bit with the four windows which is the one (or combination) that makes that annoying effect go away, without generating a disturbing airflow in the car. Much easier to try than to explain. |

As already mentioned:
- Open it only until the first stop (confort position). If it doesn't stop there automatically, refer to the owners manual to how to recalibrate the sunroof operation; Or: - Open a little bit the windows in the back until the pressure ressonance disappears. Regards David |

The same can happen with having your windows open at just the right amount at the right speed to cause the resonance even if you have the sunroof closed or don't have one at all...

I noticed yesterday that the "phenomenon" starts at around 80 km/h (50 mph) and disappears again at a speed of 120 km/h (75 mph). So either you stay at legal speeds or move to Germany
