Where the heck is my X3?
Production was completed on my X3 on Tuesday, Nov 22. My dealer said it was due into Oxnard on 12/8, and I should have it by 12/10.
Apparently, it got to Oxnard early and sat there for several days. It was released to the trucking company on Thursday, 12/8....didn't show up at the dealer on Friday....didn't show up at the dealer on Saturday (Oxnard is 2 hours from here)...and the dealer says he doesn't know when it will arrive. Really? They don't know? Can't they clear this up with a 5 minute call to the trucking company? I can't believe that they really have no visibility into the truck schedule. Any insights? |

Mine showed up on the dealers inventory list on 12/08/2011. My sales associated was on vacation for the week. Called up his colleague who was supposed to be delivering the vehicle to me. Said that it was not my vehicle, mine was still on the way and would arrive on 12/09/2011. Called up again on saturday/ 12/10/11- was told has not arrived yet. Looked up the vin number on the vehicle on their inventory- Same as mine! Called them up again- was told to pick it up on monday as the SA is gonna be back from vacation! Hopefully will get mine on monday. Excited to pick it up tmrw!!!

BMW invoices the dealers well in advance before the vehicles arrive. Systems are all linked together a lot of times and once the invoice comes through, it is stocked into the system even though its not physically there.
Be patient, with increased demand for vehicles, the shipping company is probably working as fast as possible. My X3 was supposed to be here end of November and I still haven't gotten mine yet. Dealer really doesn't have ANY control of getting that X3 out to you sooner. Once it arrives, I am sure that they will get it PDI'd (3 hour job) and detailed ASAP for your delivery. Keep in mind the Dealership wants to get it to you as soon as possible as well... after all, they don't get paid if you don't pick up your car. Also, patience might be a good thing... would you rather have your X3 rushed and shipped/cleaned/inspected/PDI'd poorly? Or would you rather have it done properly? Also there's so many other variables that could delay the shipping... weather, accidents etc...
