Footwell Lighting

So BMW had to change out the ENTIRE wiring harness on my X3. Yes, the entire thing! It started with the camera failing, then the right light, then the adaptive lighting etc....anyway, all the wires were removed and replaced. Now the front foot-well light are off when driving, but the rear are on. Are the front foot-well lights supposed to on at night (ambient)? Can't remember if they ever were.
