Thinking of a 2011 X3-28
I'm thinking of buying a 2011 X3-28 to be my wife's car. She currently drives a 2008 Pontiac Torrent.
I already own a 2011 335i, so that's the "fun" car - no need to talk me into an X3-35. The X3-28 will be used for all of our long drives, all grocery shopping, and transporting future babies/children. - Given how it will be used, what are the "must have" options for this car? Note: I don't care for leather seats. - What about paint colors that look awful on it in "real life" compared to internet gallery pictures? I want it to be Alpine White, while she likes the light metallic blue color (eww). It will probably have a black interior. - Finally, what should I expect to pay for one (e.g. how much above invoice, below sticker)? |

I got a 35i (live in Michigan as well) for $750 over invoice with a few things thrown in. If you plan on taking long trips, I'd recommend the sport activity package for the comfortable seats. Cold weather package as well since your in Michigan. I personally got the premium package, cold weather package, sport activity package, technology package, keyless entry, premium sound, BMW apps and the power tailgate. It really depends on what you want in a vehicle and what is important to YOU!

Must haves are moonroof, heated seats and park distance control so you don't smash up the rear end backing up. I would get the premium package for resale which gets you garage door opener, automatic rearview mirror etc and I think moonroof. I don't have the new one but had a 2004 and 2007, always regreted not getting park distance control but have it on my 335 convertible.

I would recommend that you don't rule out the 35i right away. It has some standard features that are options on the 28i. These standard features almost make up for the difference in price even before you factor in that sweet, sweet turbo charged engine. In addition, you get same fuel economy in the 35i, plus a nice boost in HP whenever you want to use it.
