I have a roof rack on, but I can't find anyplace to tie down the front and rear lines from the canoe to any part of the car!

This is for a canoe, not kayak, so it hangs over most of the car and needs to have tie downs from the bow and stern of the canoe, it cannot just be tied to the rack itself.

Any help here , especially if you have done this and have pics would be greatly appreciated.

I've not done this myself, but expect you could use the recovery tow hooks as tie down points.

the tow hooks work great for a tie off location grab another screw in eye from a junk yard so you will have two stand off, tie down locations.
