BMW tablet DVD system

This maybe a long shot, but any answer greatfully received. I have ordered the DVD system as a Birthday present for my son on my X3, he spotted it in the dealership and that was that. I have been told it comes with built in speakers but it would be better to get the headphones as the sound will driver the front seat passengers nuts. The IR headphones are £65 each, a bit of a rippoff and I was wondering if anyone knew if you could use 3rd party IR headphones. There are loads on EBAY for a fraction of the cost of the BMW ones. Problems is I can't see if they are compatible or not as I don't know the frequencies used. Most posters seem to to think they will work no problem. I was just wonder if anyone has had experience with the system.

Cheers

Cheers MA78.
Can I ask you if you are using the BMW IR headphones or 3rd party jobs? Apparently as long as the BMW DVD player has an inbuilt IR transmitter most headphones should work.

I don't have the system. But I was IMing with a friend who is a BMW Master Tech while I was reading your post, so I just asked him.
