Is the normal things? Also when I just pick up the car, the first time I start the engine, the engine was missing fire, and dealer said that the normal things because the gas need go in to engine. After a test drive the problem has gone. I think it should be ok, but right now I feel when I park the car, the wheel is shaking and engine a little bit loud.

You should most definitely see your dealer. The X3 is usually very smooth, even in cold weather. Sometimes you can experience a slightly higher RPM at idle for a few minutes after the car has started, just to warm up the engine (I'd guess the mixture will be enriched as well) and the engine in those conditions can be a bit louder and a possibly even "gurgle" a bit, especially if it is very cold. But this is hardly noticeable.

Finally, what kind of fuel did they use to fill your car? It could be that they have used non premium gasoline; that would cause a bit of knocking.

I used shell v-power (91) fuel at the most time, it is premium fuel. When I park my car, I can hear some knocking sound come from the engine.

I found a local station that doesn’t use ethanol as an additive. If there is a station near you that sells pure gasoline give it a try, but I’d be surprised if that is what’s causing your problem.

These engines have been around for quite a while now and are known to be quiet and smooth running.
It’s under warranty, take it in.

Did they fit you a 20d engine by mistake?

Same thing happened to me today, as I was 150km out of town. The car only have 1399KM on it. When I started the car it shakes like crazy. I tried to put on reverse, neutral to see if the transmission is not working properly, but it doesn't stop the vibration. It is a brand new car, and the engine is failing!!!!

I called Roadside assistant, and the car was towed to the dealer. It is a saturday of course the service department closed early. So no loaner car for me!!!

There is another thing I want to point out is that the map of the GPS is so freaking old. It is a 2011 car and the map is 2008!!!! WTF!!! I asked the service guy the other day when I was in the dealership, the guy told me that BMW doesn't update the map, there is a third party in charge of the GPS map. He also told me that the new 6 series is sharing the same map as I have.

When I asked the guy about the new BMW X3 recall, he doesn't even heard of it. WTH!!! So I told him to google it, which he did, then he told me the recall is not for all X3, and I should go home and wait for the mail or a call if my car is on the list.

My conclusion: I will never buy a car that's made in US!!!! (I have a VW MKV which is made in Germany for 5 years, never had any problem and I pump the cheapest gas; for the X3 it is always the Grade 91 from Shell and the engine fails at 1399 Km)

You sure your MKV VW was made in Germany? Mine was made in Norway and I think most are made in South Africa.

I can't search at the moment but from memory the recall affected 50 cars in total and wasn't related to shaking engines.

I would wait and see what the dealer says before writing off everyone at Spartanburg. I'm very happy with the job they did on my X3 and highly recommend them and the car.

Good luck

Yes, on the side of the car it states where it was made.

I am going to the dealership on Monday and hope I can find out more about it.

Well I don't know where is the engine made, but it seems they didn't put the engine in right. Plus it is the new generation. A lot can go wrong.

Got the call from the dealership. It turns out to be the blown out spark plug which cause the engine or one of the cyclinder misfire.
Just google the spark plug on Internet, these parts should last 150000km easily.
The highest speed I drove on this car was 130km/hr no high rpm over 4.5kpm.
The service guy told it is the manufacturer's fault when they assmble the car.

Again I will not touch any US made vehicles.
