From receipt of the VIN number I was told delivery is usually 6-8 weeks away depending on variables such as shipping schedules. So looks to be on time for the original estimated delivery time.

This will be our first BMW and it was a long road to get here. I come from a history of Audi and most recently Volvo, and up until early this year, was looking at a XC60 D5. In the end it was the avialability of the 30d for the Australian market that made the difference. If the comparison had been with the 20d, we would have most likely stayed with the Volvo. The 30d costs somewhat more but I figure we'll get most of that back in better resale.

Looking forward to sharing my experiences when it arrives.

Tony
Welcome to the Australian BMW family. Good luck with the car and I am sure you will enjoy its more engaging driving experience.

I just wanted the motor.
Its a great unit in the X5, and gives you the choice of a great performance car or an econo-car in the lighter, better handling X3.

If I could put a 40d tune onto it, I would. 225kW and 600Nm anyone? Yes please!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.

And malfunction99, choosing the 30d over the others is - in my opionin - a bit of a no brainer. With the miles I do I was after a diesel and when I sat down and added up the costs, by the time you've brought the 20d up to the same spec as the 30d, there was only a $4-5,000 difference in on road costs. With the much better performance at only a marginal penalty in fuel economy, it was an easy decision to make. The 28i - again in my opinion - was at best only an average engine in the X3. If BMW Australia had brought in the 35i, then things may have been a little different.

For the short while that I was considering the Q5, its interesting to note that at least amongst members of the Ozaudi site, the 3.0TDI also dominated members choice for the Q5.

I agree, I wanted the motor too, after driving an X5 30d for a weekend. I expected it to be a torque monster in the lighter X3, and it is.

I'd do the 40d tune too, assuming no warranty issues etc.

Far out I wish I could have pushed the budget for a 30d, but just couldn't stretch far enough. Still VERY excited about my 20d due late August! Quite a step up from my '08 Territory!

Territory is a classy looking vehicle lacking the build quality for people with good taste. I am happy for you and hope you enjoy the Beemer. Well done!

I had a territory. Ran it for three and a half years. Hardly any of the trims fell off. It wasn't a bad car.
Only real disappointment was the depreciation and the cracked suspension bushes that the dealer didn't find until 100km after the warranty expired. Amazing how three of them all cracked in such a short distance.

I would budget on 5-7 business days. Depending on how busy they are.

Picked up ours too this afternoon. Interestingly, mine has P zeroes instead of Continentals as discussed earlier in the thread. Anyway, car isn't half bad at all, even comparing it to the X5M we had!

Finally picked up my 30D Msport too from Perth today.
Loving it so far....HUD is awesome along with Sports mode.
Not sure if its just be but even with 19" Rims the wheels seem a bit small, and the front looks a bit too flat??
Also looks like the Internet option was a waste of time as it comes up this feature is not for Australia

BMW Australia is working on the internet software. It will have to work! I agree the 19s look a bit small, but I think it is the overall diamention of the wheels that is small, not so much the rim size.

I was quite impressed with the throttle response on Sport mode. Can't imagine myself driving it in any other mode. I have set the sport mode to sport drivetrain but normal for the suspension as the suspension in normal mode works quite well in terms of body control. When I want to really attack the corners, I would choose Sport Plus. Works well!
