Hi everyone.

Today, my turbo broke down with a noisy whine/whisle followed by a sound that reminds of radiostatic/white noise. The noise lastet for 6-7 seconds and then disappeard togheter with the turbo. It now feels like I'm driving a 50bhp engine

Didn't do anything special. Just accelerated from a roundabout up to the speed limit of 80km/h (about 50mph) with an easy foot on the throttle.

The car is in the shop, waiting for parts. Driving a French rental car now...

Since this is the third time this happens with my car in the same amount of years, I feel I need to know if I'm alone with this problem.

Luckily I have a brilliant insurance that covers engine and drivetrain breakdowns, but I feel like an idiot showing up with the same problem each year. I'm glad my new X3 will arrive in a few months.

Someone else with similar problems?

yep you are on your own with this...i have (lucky me) no problems with mine...

Luckily the BMW shop took this on warranty, since they have replaced the turbo only a year ago.

No cost at all

And you bought another one? Wow! That happened to me once and I would be on my way to another brand.
