Transmission Reprogram

The wife took her '08 automatic with 37K on it for an exhaust rattle. Got the broken bracket fix. The Service Rep indicated that they also did a new reprogram of the transmission to help shifting. She had had the original one done and the only issue, you could not slowly accelerate from a stop. You needed to get away quickly. Well now, you can ease on the throttle and smoothly accelerate away from a stop. Much improved. Never received anything in the mail for a TSB or anything like that. Most impressed. Really helped in the snow that we just had.

Good for your dealer for doing that. This has been an issue with the X3 automatic transmission. Drivers have noticed hesitation issues when going up and down certain gears and the software update takes care of it. My CPO warranty covered the update.

further to the above question, wouldn't BMW cover the cost of the transmission re-program regardless?

My 08 X3 with 37k miles is also booked in for next wednesday to have the transmission software update. It's really rough feeling at the minute so will let you know after being done.

Got my car back today with the software update and also 4 brand new BMW approved tyres free under warranty due to the last owner fitting non approved Bridgestones! I must say it is a different car now so much smoother than it was. Very Happy
