Try looking under Menu, Settings, Climate using iDrive. I have parked car ventilation on my US-spec '11.

For me it's grayed out in iDrive and it does not appear to be an remote control option on the BMW remote app. I must be missing something.

It's greyed out if the car is running. Get in and push the start button without stepping on the brake. It's like turning the key to the second position in the old days. Now you should be able to check it.

Tried that and it's still greyed out for me.

<Update:>

When I left work, I tried again with no luck. When I got home and turned off the car, i took another look and it was no longer greyed out and I was able to check it it started to work.

Well, after the transit truck finally got out of its stall in Ohio, I took delivery of the car today...Sheesh, and here I thought I'd be getting it last Friday..

I'll post some pix in a day or two..
  • Really like the Oyster interior and Deep Sea Blue combo
  • Rides a little stiff with run-flats, but my point of comparison is 528i F10 Loaner (a pretty soft ride)
  • The N20 is a much better match with the X3 than the F10 5 series
  • Other than highway cruising, I don't think I could drive in comfort or eco mode - there's just no guts at 1800 rpm imo
  • Fit & Finish seem nice
More to share after I've had a little more seat time!

You guys are killing me! I was told "about a month" for my new x3, and with only one week down I have read all there is to read and am out of diversions. ...hoping for a pleasant surprise on production...

Question for those of you who just took delivery: what make/model (18") tires did it come with? Roads will get slippery up here...

Mine came with Pirelli Cinturato P7's...245/50 R18's.

I am far from a run-flat tire admirer but I will admit they have gotten better over time. IMO the ride on the x3 would be improved without run flats. These are a bit hard at times, but not consistently over-harsh if that makes sense. I need more seat time in various weather conditions to formulate a more final opinion.

http://www.pirelli.com/tyre/ww/en/ca...turato_p7.html

Did you order from Motorwerks or Minnetonka?

I'm debating whether to get snows this year or not..Usually it's not even debatable imo, but based on last years winter, I thinking of giving it a try with these "eco friendly" All Seasons...

Being a skier, i'm hoping for a 'real' winter. The Pirelli should be drivable when new, if that is what I get as well. I was curious to get a line on the tread specs - 500 A A. I imagine DSC will need to be turned off whenever it is slick. But i've managed with similar tires and 2WD, so 'bring it'!

...ordered from Minnetonka, FWIW. [Three more weeks seems like an eternity!]

Did you work with Warren Fritz there? He's been my sales go-to-guy over the years...

Worked with a different guy but knowledgable and competent...

I ordered a dog barrier from TravAll - it came from the UK in only 3 days! Very nice quality - all metal so it can't get chewed-up. ...wish the car itself could appear as well.

Greetings Midwest X6,
Since our dealership is the same, how long did your X3 take from the 'finishing touches' tracking designation to delivery? My order advanced to 'finishing touches' on last Friday.

I'm SO antsy!

Can't say with certainty Frank..The transit truck that took my car to the dealer from Carolina crapped-out in Ohio and it stalled my delivery 5 days with the labor day holiday..

I ordered the car three days ago and the my SA tells me that I won't have my slot till the 43rd week which is in NOV.... is that even possible?
am I missing something? or is my SA not doing his job? Is there anything I can do?

What your SA is possibly not telling you is that they (the dealer) don't have an allocated build slot available in the near term. You could check with other dealers in your area to see if they might have an earlier slot available, buy you will have to negotiate all over again.

This....Your dealer does not have a slot available sooner for you - shop around more and see if you can get one sooner I suppose

so I guess those slots are not in order some dealer have earlier slots and some don't
I think I'll call in other deal and see if they'll just match my deal
the SA took my license and ask me to sign it so he can have the permission to order the car for me
can he charge me whatever amount of money if I order from other dealer?

I have been checking the 800 number and for the past week it states " you vehicle is scheduled for production with no confirmed production date" what does this mean exactly, somewhat of an oxymoron, or maybe is a direct translation from German. Any ideas how long it takes to go from this stage to actually get a production date or week?

Thanks

Maybe a week or so. The web-site and 800# don't always agree and could lag reality. Mine now says 'released to transport' on the phone.
