Automatically Alarm Car
Is there any feature that allows the X3 to auto-set the alarm?
I.E. - My wife's TSX will lock/arm itself after 30 secs - should she forget to close/lock the car with her key fob. Do we have that on our X3s? |

The alarm is enabled when you lock the car, but you must press the lock button or touch the door handle if you have comfort access to lock it.
There is also an idrive setting where you can have the car 'lock if no door is opened'. If this is enabled, you can unlock the car but don't open any doors, about 30 seconds later the car locks itself. I think this is there to guard against unintended presses of the unlock button while the key fob is in a pocket or purse. The feature works well and it is kind of spooky when the car locks itself! |

Yes I have that also.
If you unlock the car but do not open any doors, the car will lock itself again after a short time. This happens in my Alfa 159 (2008) and my wife's Mini cab (2009). |

Or a child. Or an elderly relative!

On a serious note, you can use remote lock on the BMW Remote App for peace of mind if you have one of those "did I lock the car?" moments

What options for the car do we need to be able to use the remote app? Does it require subscription to BMW Assist to use the app? Thanks.

Yes, you need an active BMW Assist subscription. The app sends a command to the car's SIM. Not sure on exactly what options for your market but I would think your tech package will cover it (nav with the larger screen)
