Current Delivery Times
Hi all,
I'm new here. I've looked through the posts and seen mixed message about delivery time once vehicle is produced. I am wondering if anyone has recent experience with this (some of the posts are from December/beg of January). I ordered my 2011 X3 28i on Jan 21, production started Feb 8, and completed Feb 15. When I call, the status is that my vehicle "has been released to the carrier and is awaiting transportation to port of exit." I live in Southern California. I've been told by my dealer it is about 4 weeks from the time it is finished with production, but have seen in this forum as little as 2 weeks. Any thoughts/comments are much appreciated Super excited to see my car! I sold my 2004 325i on Jan 21, so I'm feeling a bit BMW-deprived Ordered X3 28i Alpine White Black Nevada Leather Premium package Sport Activity package Convenience package Cold Weather package Technology package Dynamic Handling package Premium sound |

Since you're on the West Coast, like me, expect it to take about three to four weeks. My car was completed on the 7th and my dealership doesn't expect it to get here before the 28th. The car was loaded onto a train on the 9th. Why it takes almost twenty days for the train to reach CA is beyond me. Once it gets to the distribution center in Port Hueneme, they load it onto a truck and it goes to your dealership. That can take up to another week.
I know, you could walk it from SC to CA in less time. Lame. |

I ordered on 1/28 and got "in line" but no production start date by the end of week 1. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks and still no production date. So you did very well to get through production as quickly as you did.

This has to do with your dealership's allocation. Sometimes they bump you back to fill other orders even. I know, sucks huh?

Yeah, if I'd known that mattered I'd have found a dealer in a larger metro area. Maybe if I threaten to cancel the order....then I'd have to live with the consequences if they said "OK by me."
Why can't we unchain ourselves from dealerships? Just go online and fill out an order form, and take delivery by UPS? I suspect the UPS driver would be happy to drop it off at the door. |

Did you get any kind of tracking information? Also, were you able to see your production video yet? I don't see mine, but am guessing it takes a couple of days post-production...? Thanks for the good info, guys! |

Just got call from dealer. The X3 is at dealership by tonight and we can pick it up tonight or tomorrow. The bad thing, day care will be closing till president day and I can't drag them along to pick up X3. It's about 1 hour one way.
We ordered on Jan 9th, 2011. It arrived at Port Hueneme yesterday. |

Just an update for those who are waiting for their cars:
I ordered my X3 on Jan 21. It entered production Feb 8 and was done Feb 15. It got on the train to California on Feb 17. It is expected to arrive in Port Hueneme on Mar 4, so about two and a half weeks. I will take delivery mid-March when I get back home. I participated in the BMW X3 Difference Event today and it made me even more excited for my car than I already was (if that's possible) Has anyone had problems accessing their production video? I received an e-mail that it was ready, but I have tried to access it on four different computers to no avail. Suggestions? |

I participated in the BMW X3 Difference Event today and it made me even more excited for my car than I already was (if that's possible) We got the notice in the mail for the event held here in March and I wondered what it consisted of. It stated if you placed an order you received a gift-did you? Even though I have taken delivery I thought about checking it out if it was worth it. |

We got to drive the X3 and a competitor. The competitor is different depending on where you are located. It was explained to me that they choose a car that is popular in the local market. In our case, this was a Lexus RX350. Back East, I heard they are using the Audi Q5 and up north (not sure if he meant NorCal or Washington/Oregon), they are using the Mercedes GLK. I have not received the gift card because I have not taken delivery yet. I will ask about this once I take delivery in March, but I assume that this should qualify me since the offer states "receive a $500 gift card for BMW accessories if you take delivery of a 2011 X3 by ...." I can't remember the date, but I believe it's June 2011. Regardless, it was fun to drive the cars! |

Long Wait
X3 35i was ordered on February 10th. It is now March 21st and I am told the vehicle is being loaded on the train today. 12 days to So. Calif. and then? I hope to have it by April 10th. Have been told the factory is backed up with more orders than planned.

Any idea when your beginning of production was? My car's been at "start of production" since at least March 18 and my CA said that it should arrive in early April. However, this seems pretty optimistic since a lot of members have said that it takes about 3 weeks just to transport it to the west coast.

For those in Australia...
I placed an order for an X3 30d M-Sport yesterday, and was quoted a late June / early July delivery. Build is anticipated for mid-April but not confirmed by dealer as yet. Didn't manage to get any discount, but hey, getting the car will be enough. |

Hi Mclo,
Great to see another aussie here I too have a 30d M-Sport, I had my deposit down March last year so confirmed a production slot first week of April with delivery due 1st week June. Was lucky to get $4k off the car but I'm sure with all the accessories which were optioned the dealer here in Perth was still making a nice lot. Drive away I was at $105,000. Started from $88,414 for the base 30d MSport drive away. How did you go? Cya Roderic |
