2011 BMW X3 vs 2011 Land Rover Evoque?
Hi just thought this would make for an interesting discussion. I'm planning on picking up the new X3 when it comes out but came across this new small SUV by Land Rover. I personally think it looks fantastic, the interior is a bit wild, and it's probably on the feminine side but what do you all think? I know I'll end up sticking with the X3 but does anyone know much about this new direction Land Rover is taking? Apparently Victoria Beckham designed it. I think it's going to be marketed very well and will be popular if it's priced well. Not sure how practical it would be though.

I'm going through the same consideration for the Missus. I won't be making a purchase till mid 2011, but like the car guy I am, am already "shopping." Unfortuatnely, there isn't a whole lot out yet about the Rover. Rumor has it may be powered by an FI 4 cylinder and should be the lightest Land Rover ever made. It should slot between the LR2 and the LR4 (Disco) and should compete with the X3 head-on. I agree, I think it looks fantastic -

Isn't the Evoque more X1 sized? I wouldn't see it competing with the new X3, it's not nearly as big a vehicle.

interestingly enough, i happen to be both a BMW and Land Rover fanatic...
1- the Evoque was NOT designed by the former spice girl... she was only added on to help with the 'lifestyle' products (luggage, clothing, etc) to be branded with the vehicle 2- as correctly stated by ND40oz, the Evoque is smaller than the new X3, and will compete (size-wise) against the X1 3- however, as the Evoque is being labeled into the Range Rover family of vehicles (Range Rover, and Range Rover Sport) and not the Land Rover side (LR2 and LR4), expect to pay a premium (similar pricing to X3 and not X1) -- keeping with the added refinements of the Range Rover. i haven't heard any concrete info as to the engine(s) to be offered in the States. my guess is that only the 6cyl AWD version will make it across the pond. |

i dont like the range rover because of the 2 doors. i think it would've been nice if they made it a little bigger (still smaller then the rr sport) and gave it 4 doors.
