Snow Glare At Night
I was driving at night with the lamps set to Low Beams, all the way to the right. I encountered blizzard conditions with heavy snow fall. The glare from the headlights was so intense in front of the car that it was very difficult to see the road ahead in places where there were no other lights. I tried changing to Automatic but there was no improvement. The high beams weren't on.
Has any one else encountered this, is there a chance the lights aren't adjusted properly or was using low beams at the start a problem? Later during lighter snow falls and in Automatic there was no problem.

Haven't had this problem yet (no blizzards so far this year, and if there is one, I'm not going to be out driving around in it) but you did the right thing - just like in bad fog, you should always use low beams in that situation.
I am finding that even the low beams are quite bright - I've gotten flashed a few times from oncoming drivers as if I had high beams on. I live in a hilly area and the lights are always readjusting their level as I go up or down hills. |

During the problem I tried turning the fog lights on and off with no noticeable effect.
I was wondering if having the lights set in Auto from the beginning would have made the lights level off to increase visibility, perhaps asking too much.

Common in high density snowfall here in Finland. Even with oldtime halogens... the low beam creates a "wall of light" infront of you and you can't see a thing.
What you should do is turn off the lights and use fog lights only (and drive 20mph max, as fog lights are designed to illuminate only short distance). |
