Rattle Rattle Rattle

Grrrrr.. the stupid tailgate clunk has returned this week.. had it all fixed when it was being repaired and was running nice and quiet, and now its rattling again..

Really don't understand why they can't get the basics right!

Rattle in boot

Hi,

I had the same problem, you will see on either side of your boot is two black stops, just turn both out evenly with pliers, that will sort the clunk noise out.

I've had a look today at what is there, and the only rubber stoppers are attached to metal brackets next to the pump arms that support the door, is this the ones you mean?

Clunk metal noise

Hi,

No thats not those brackets with rubber stops, if open the boot they next to the body tail lights, black rubber stops, turn them out anti-clock wise.
Sure you will find them, that will sort out your clunk noise.

How many counter clockwise turns did you rotate the stops? I used my hands and they each went about a third of a full turn and stopped. Should I use pliers?

Coincidentally the only rattle I've had in my X3 in a year of ownership transpired to be a baby's toy under the passenger seat
