Vehicle Tracing in Canada?

Does anyone know if it is possible for Canadian owners to track their vehicle from the factory? I know US buyers can login and see the status along with a build video.

vehicle will ship directly to Calgary port. There is no real way to track it while on the train. When I was waiting for my X, I had to wait til it landed in Calgary before I could track it from there.

What about logging into BMW USA or BMW Canada and track the status of a vehicle? Is this possible? I'd like to see if I can get the video clip of my car being built.

I wish there was, but there isn't. Canada doesn't get the same benefits that the States have. The production number/VIN is only trackable through the dealer as it is being built. However, once the vehicle is shipped off, its a long waiting game. Do you know when it was shipped?

There will be no video clip of the vehicle either (USA only)

Ok thanks for clarifying. The car just started production yesterday. I think it should arrive by end of Feb or early March.

Sounds exciting! Should be on the train by early next week then!

Funny, my Friend is a neice of one of the builders of my X3... he tracked it down by production number and everything I was hoping that he'd throw in a few added options magically lol

When I was talking to BMW Canada about my build, all they could share with me is something akin to the following

-not yet built
-built, in the lot somewhere in the factory and I don't know how quickly they can build enough to fill the train
-somewhere between the factory and the Canadian border
-dealer should have called you by now.

yep, that would be typical Canadian service.

Our American friends do not have to put up with that junk... nor would they.

That's exactly the kind of info we got from our dealers here. Didn't really expect anything more. I don't want to pay even more to have them wasting energy precisely monitoring my specific car and reporting it to me. The online tracking thing sounds cool, but it really doesn't work well. It's "macro" in that it has very few stages, and the reporting of those stages was not in sync with reality. The only thing that was fun was the video of production, but in the end was really a handful of 3 second clips of your car. Fun, but not earthshaking.
